Power unit for KATO 11-104 little passenger cars [Toy] (japan import)

I would say I'm new to model railroading in that I did it when I was a kid and now 20+ years later have pulled out my old set to share with my son. I have only ever had the cheapest brand locomotives available. After taking out my old trains I could not get one of my tram unit locomotives to work. I saw this and thought for the price it was far less than a new locomotive, maybe I could put the body of my broken tram on it.It shipped from Japan, so it took some time, but the wait was worth it. It performs better than any of my other locomotives that were all far more expensive (20 years ago and now). I figured I would have to cut off much of the detail work on this to make it fit, but it actually fit in very nicely. It is very light weight, I haven't added any weight yet. When I tried using it to pull cars (with the tram body off to expose the couplers) it could not pull more than 2 cars up the slightest incline. But I think some added weight will help that.This is clearly made to have a specific body attached to it, it even has clips to hold the body in place, but I can't seem to find the body that was meant for it. I'm tempted to purchase more of these and add on different bodies or make some type of body of my own. Of course the one caveat, it is very short. It worked great for my tram, the tram body was long enough and covers the couplers. It would be difficult to use with a larger pulling locomotive

Took it out of the package, put in on the tracks, and it went driving happily away. Its just a set of drive wheels like in any Locomotive. You don't have to do anything but power it to make it work. Now I just need to build something that looks vaguely train like to put on top of it. I suppose I could use it as a replacement engine for a small locomotive. Maybe I will motorize a truck or one of the gas speeders. Heck, I could build a couple of scale outhouses on it and let it go off on it's own around the track.

Perfect size for my repower project. Easy to install and runs superb. Price is very good as well.

These are cheap and do the job ,I do a lot of single truck street cars in narrow guage

Love these little chassis, bought several of them for scratch build projects and they work really well, have pretty low operating speeds and are easy to work with, will continue to use this range of products

se volete realizzare o aggiornare una locomotiva in scala n, questi telai fanno al vostro casa. la motorizzazione e' eccellente. forse l'unica pecca, sul telaio a carrelli, risulta un po' troppo piccolo.con delle modifiche, si puo' adattare senza problemi alle locomotive in questa scala

Lo he montado en un vagón J de ibertrén y con un poquito de paciencia se encaja sin problema

邪道ですがワム80000の動力化に使用。バッファは引き抜けるのでステップを1つだけ残して切り落とし。軸距離が短いですが気になるほどではありません。機関車の牽引力が足りないのでパワー足しに使います。追記:ワラ1と軸距が合うことが判明したので両端を切ってワラ1に移設。集電性能が弱いのでワフ29500と導線で繋ぎました。
