Good sound quality and worked without an extra powersupply.

This Earamble mic has good sound and build quality. The volume out of the microphone jack of my desktop computer was adequate and perfectly usable but if you require a louder signal you will need to use an additional powersupply or audio interface. Besides direct from my desktop computer, I also tested it with a Behringer U-Phoria USB interface and I was able to record at much higher volumes with that. The microphone is a condensor type with a standard cardioid pattern that is intended to record the space front of the mic and doesn't pick up as much side or background sound. The sound quality is very good and much better than other budget microphones or headsets I've tried. The mid range come through clearly and sounds natural. I did not test the microphone with instruments so I am not sure how suitable it is for that application. The extension and quality of the bass and treble seem to be fine for vocal use.The construction of the mic is sturdy and it has some good heft. The body is made from zinc allow, it feels solid and will hold up to regular use. Included in the box is a foam cap, shockmount, and 3-pin XLR to 3.5mm cable. The fit of the cable connector and jack were very snug and it takes a bit of force to insert and remove it. The shockmount works as designed and minimizes vibrations during use, I wish they included or sold a mini tripod that works with the shockmount. It would've been helpful for users new to recording and microphones. Earamble does sell a separate table clamp stand that works great with this mic.

Been using it for work conference calls/Vid meetings

So far it's working like a champ.I just have to remember to turn on my phantom power block before the meeting (I set that up on a wifi controlled plug, and tell my echo dot to turn microphone ON/OFF as needed)I like to have the power off between meetings so that I don't have to worry about a meeting not completely disconnecting and my having a live mic)Back to the actual Microphone...I have it on a stand with heavy base on my desktop, so it sits just above my computer monitors, angled down a bit towards me.If I'm not muted on conference calls, people have commented about my 'quietly & slowly' typing on a non-mechanical (i.e- Not clicky) keyboard... also have had comments mentioning my 'very low volume' light type classical music playing on a source elsewhere in the room. It's a very sensitive Microphone and thats a good thing :)

Read this to know what is required to use it.

I have not had it long and have only had a chance to briefly test it out. It sounds pretty good though I must say this is including addition accessories. So let me break down what is needed to run it on a phone and a Dslr. For the phone you need a headphone/mic splitter but if you have a Dslr with a mic port, you do not need anything else. I say this because sometimes people do not know all that is needed and buy extra stuff not needed. Now like this, the sound is better than the on-device mic but not as good as a lavalier mic. The plus is you do not have to be right up on the mic like a lavalier and can be about 1 foot away comfortably. Now you can purchase a cheap phantom power source for less than 20 bucks. The phantom power makes the mic sound better than the lavalier and still provides the benefit of allowing you to not be right up on the mic. In total you will need a stand, splitter, and phantom power for a total of about 60 bucks. Something to think about before you make this purchase.

Love this mic...

Still getting use to it. It arrived super fast. It sounds clear and will be my go to for a long time to come. Eventually I will upgrade to an AKG for a more clearer and professional sound, but I will still use this to do webshows, comentary, podcasts, etc. Highly recommended.Update: 11/15/2017Used the mic Sunday only to test it. Worked and sounded perfect. Turned on today to record a new song. Mic doesn't seem to be picking up sound. Checked all my inputs and power supply, seems to be okay. I haven't dropped or kocked it over or anything.I noticed when it first arrived out of the box, the xlr cord that plugs into the back of the mic seemed to be slightly loose and missing a screw. Since it worked Sunday, I didn't think it'd be an issue so I didn't complain. Today (Wed) I can't seem to get it to function. Still a good mic. Perhaps I need another xlr cord. It's frustrating when you receive a new purchased product, and you get really excited and expect it to work and it fails. I will keep looking for a solution. I don't wish to send it back.

Good budget entry mic into the world of podcasts, letsplays, streams and general recording.

For the price this is a pleasant entry into the recording world of lets players, and lite youtubing/streaming. I was low on funds and needed a standalone mic which takes care of that.Day 1 the mic is good I am testing it out quite a bit and configuring things. You have to be close to get the best sound quality from your voice, it is meant for audio recording more than a gaming mic but my voice can be heard just fine further away. If you use teamspeak, discord, etc others can increase the volume they hear you from further away no issues.I have it plugged directly into my pc atm, but I plan to get a XLR to 3.5mm cable which will make the quality better + allow the included wire to be a spare.I will make a 6month follow up. Just remember if you get something that is contrary to the majority of reviewers you might of gotten a factory defect one which occurs with manufacturing.
