10 Minute Solution: Knockout Body Workout

Absolutely Fabulous!
Now owning 13 of the 10 Minute Solutions workout DVDs, I think it's fair to say I'm very happy with my training library and this latest addition is absolutely fantastic. Jessica Smith is one of the best instructors I've worked with, as she not only encourages but uses different ways to motivate, by mixing up what she says while taking you through the set, including imagining yourself swimsuit ready all year round, throwing out snappy phrases to keep you going until the end of the reps, 'finish strong!' and informing you of the health and science part behind the moves, in such a way that I found my determination to succeed doubled. She's friendly and knowledgeable without being overly perky and annoying, so repeat sessions won't be a problem.I like that Jessica wears the exact same gloves that come with the DVD and not a modified version. Sometimes, if there is anything even slightly different about the kit, say a different colour, you can wonder if you are getting the same workout, but not here! I agree with the previous reviewer about having 'Kickbox Cross-Train' playing first as the 4 basic arms moves are demonstrated in this section: jab, cross-punch, upper-cut and hook-punch, but it plays 2nd from last if you choose the 'Play All' option. If I'm doing all 50 minutes, I tend to programme it so I do 30 minutes of cardio first, then upper body, closing with abs. Although all the sections are cardio intense, and there is a surprising amount of lower body work too. All the workouts are based on the principal of interval training, so plenty of metabolism raising moves, incorporating fat attacking steps, strength training with plenty of sculpting and toning too - what more could you ask for! Plus, there are some inventive routines and excellent transitions between repetitions, so you don't get bored, it's all kept really fresh. My only minor quibble is the loss of the minute timer on my DVD player when programming my workout as opposed to using the 'Play All' feature, which does have a timer. When exercising to my other 10 Minutes Solution DVDs using the 'Create your own Workout' option, my player displays a timer for each section, which I find really useful. For instance, if I glance across and see that 3 minutes have gone by, I know where I am in the routine, what's coming up next and how far I've got to go - and this comes in really handy when doing the very intense 'Blast off Belly Fat' and 'Quick Tommy Toners' workouts. With this DVD, a rather unhelpful 'Play' is displayed, but it's not a major issue, I've just got used to being able to see exactly where I am at any given point.Overall, a challenging cardio workout, that will get you sweating and with the use of light weighted gloves, you'll see accelerated results - very highly recommended!

Great workout but a little advanced for people who have no kickboxing, boxing experience
I previewed this workout and thought it would be a great calorie burning dvd for short workouts as I don't always love doing long workouts during the week. I used the menu to choose 2 workouts the body blast was hard for me to follow with the combos. I'm not the most coordinated person but thinking if you are into kickboxing already it's better suited for you. I think i will get it once i do it a couple or so more times. The cross train was a lot easier for me, challenging but i could keep up with it. I still need to try the other workouts. Overall, i like this dvd because it's a challenge and definitely takes me out of my comfort zone i just hope i can get all of the combo moves down so i can benefit from it.

Sweat off those calories!!!
Oh my god! - Those were the words I kept on saying over and over again while working out to Jessica Smith's intense workouts. I am by no means a beginner and definitely not a hardcore fanatic but working out on these 10 min solution dvds have got me so motivated that i have worked out far more than I have ever wanted since I was in high school. This is by far my favorite. All the moves in this series are fun, engaging and really works you out. I haven't tried all the dvds in the 10 min solution featuring different instructors though. I only bought Jessica Smiths's dvds because before buying, you get to watch a sample of the video. And the most important is that Jessica doesn't annoy you like some other instructors. She is encouraging, enthusiastic and really keeps you wanting to try harder. It definitely helps more when her fabulous figure is in constant view and you're thinking, "I want those abs and arms!".What's smart is that you get to choose each workout on it's own or work out to the entire dvd. I like variety so it really helps that I can mix and match not only to this dvd but Jessica's other dvds too. It also works psychologically that it's only 10 mins/workout so you don't already feel depressed that you have to work out for an hour. By the time the first 10 mins fly back, you're ready and pumped to keep on going. I started 20 mins and slowly progressed to 50 mins and this is only my first week. I have been working out steadily for the last 5 days straight. For someone who dislikes the gym or even attempting to work out, I definitely am thankful to have found my solution.

I have found the perfect workout!
Unbelievably for such an exercise-phobe as me, I LOVE this workout! First, I love the "10-minute" format, as it gives me small goals to meet during the workout as a whole; I also love that you can select the order you want, and skip any sections that hurt too much until you're ready! The instructor is absolutely amazing... she is not annoying in the least but still very encouraging... my favorite phrase is " there's no time to waste": personally, I hate the mess around factor, and would rather just get it done. That's exactly what she does. However, this is a tough workout in my opinion, and I feel it ALL OVER the next day. I am starting from baseline (had 4 babies in the last 5 years and smallest 3 months) but I can do most of the stuff without dying. I do substitute some of the more "outrageous" abdominal moves she does, but look forward to working up to them.I think the best recommendation I can give is that most of the time ( depending on my mood and the childrens'!) I am often surprised that each segment has ended already... unlike other fitness DVDs I have had, I am not just making it through and hoping for the end. I actually have a positive attitude and enjoy this workout, which for me is 90% of the battle, since if I hate it I won't do it, no matter how good the intentions.

Recommended!
I've owned this for almost 7 years now and done it on and off- and it is still very, very good! I originally got it as a racing runner, to cross train and strengthen my core for running while still offering something of a challenge, which it did a very good job of. More recently in times of being unable to run or being injured this has helped me to keep some fitness and keep my muscles going. It's also been good for getting back to fitness in between babies and of course being 10 minutes solutions I can do what I can fit into my very busy days!Jessica Smith is a great instructor, likeable, motivating not annoying and very clear about what you should be doing. Only thing I don't like about it is she doesn't give you a "real" kickboxing stance not demonstrate proper punching form, especially hooks, that said, she does make it clear it is only based on kickboxing moves rather than actually being those!Continues to serve my purposes really well, recommended.

Love it!
I love this DVD, I have many of Jessica's work out dvd's and this is one of my faves. She also does the 10 minute solution belly, butt and thigh blaster which I bought first. I then bought this as a second DVD when I felt the first wasn't so challenging and I was getting bored with the same routines, this is a step up from belly, butt and thigh blaster. Faster energy, more cardio and still thoroughly enjoyable. I didn't have the gloves when I first got the DVD so went a week or so without them while I looked for a pair. You can feel the difference between bare hands and gloves. The routines are easy enough to follow, no difficult moves and Jessica is, as always, bright and encouraging throughout.I think this is mostly for beginners/ intermediate level and a good way to start out, even though I go back to this dvd find I need a bit more of a challenge these days, but its still a great work out and will help boost your fitness level and help you lose weight.

A wicked workout!
I am a huge fan of 10MS, they manage to pack a compact but thorough workout into ten minutes and the presenters are likeable and have healthy, fit bodies which is much more motivating than a celeb who has starved themselves to a skeleton only to put the weight back on before you've completed your first workout: pI love kickboxing style workouts and have been usingĀ 10 Minute Solution - Kickbox Bootcamp [DVD ]which is also fantastic. This dvd is slightly easier than Kickbox Bootcamp, you don't need any weights but the presenter wears weighted gloves which I would like to do for a bit higher calorie burn. The moves are easy to follow and after a few goes I am now able to do the dvd without having to concentrate on direction etc. You do need a bit of room for some of the exercises but I do the dvd in a very limited space and just make use of the space I have got (there is one exercise where you punch and move sideways and then change direction to the front, I just go up and down!)Overall I would say if you like kickboxing type workouts and want something fun then this is the dvd for you. A really good workout routine would be to alternate with the bootcamp which uses weights as you can then work on fatloss and maintaining muscle. 10 Minute Solution - Kickbox Bootcamp [DVD

This woman is increadable!!!
This is a really enjoyable workout DVD with easy to follow instructions and easy to use menus on the opening screen. There are 5 10 minute workouts which you can do individually or add together in any combination to form 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 minute workouts. They are great fun to do and the time really does fly. It's even better if you get yourself some weighted gloves. My arms are definitely looking a bit more defined, although at the moment I'm still eating a lot due to long work days and not having time to prepare healthy food so my weight hasn't changed, but will sort that out next week when I start doing normal work days again. Some people have mentioned that there's not much of a warm down afterwards, but each section has a tiny bit of time to do some warm down exercises, if you feel the need to do more then there's nothing stopping you.The instructor is really good and full of energy and comes across as knowledgable, encouraging and fun. I really enjoy this DVD and use it on a daily basis, much more fun that running!

A good all body work out
I'd read the reviews so thought I knew what I was getting. However if you've never done boxercise before you might struggle. The 10 minute slots are a little backwards in that you need to try the cross trainer one before the others as it explains some of the moves you'll need for the first 2. Other than that. I love it. I started with mastering one slot first, and could only manage to do it twice but and am building up. I'd tried this type of exercise at the gym and gave up as I couldn't keep up and am not very co ordinated but being able to do it at home where I can pause it and watch her demonstrations over I have found it to be something I can now master.
