FIRM, THE - FAT BLASTING CARDIO

Not for the uncoordinated beginner
I bought this DVD because I remember my Mom doing The Firm tapes years ago and working up a good sweat. Let me first say, I like the instructor she isn't too "corny" or over the top like many, and she does encourage you in a very good way. She says things like "good job" and "you can do it" and acknowledges that some steps really make you pick up the pace or give extra challenge. All of those things are very important to me, so I plan on continuing to use this DVD.The issues I do have, are that I am extremely uncoordinated. I have no problem doing the steps, but I need time to learn them and then put them together. She basically throws you in expecting that you have knowledge of how to mambo and do triple steps with bounces and arms moving simultaneously. Sure, she shows you but it isn't slow enough for my pace. So, I found myself watching and then always being several steps behind and doing my best to figure the steps out. I am sure with time and practice I will memorize it and be able to keep up, but it was disheartening as I am just beginning to try and workout. I am going to try and find another aerobic DVD that will better guide me and let me learn the steps, and hopefully work up to this. By the end of the DVD (for me that was at 24 minutes) I was sweaty, and my heart was pumping. It is definitely a good workout, and I hope I can soon complete the entire DVD, but between it being my first aerobic workout in ages and not knowing what the steps were I did give in and I quit early. If anyone else has done this video, and has suggestions on something for more of a beginner that takes more time at explaining the steps I would really appreciate it. I can do the steps once I have them memorized... I just need help in learning to do them correctly and then being able to recognize them by name. So when the instructor calls different steps/moves I know which ones I am doing and in what order.

Excellent Calorie Burner
I love this workout it's 35 minutes long the steps are fun and not complicated.. I was sweating and burning Calories .. I am 5'3 125 and I am not new to the firm however I am new to this work out because I don't have the incline step I have the old fanny lifter.. You can use weights to increase the burn when your body's becomes accustomed to this work out .. I use a traditional step like in the gym so add risers as you stop feeling challenged .. I have a step aerobics buddy @ the gym and she did the entire 45 minute workout on 5 risers on each side I have never had to use more than 3 on each side to feel like I had a good intense workout .. There is a short warm up .. 2 step routines and 2 routines using weights which is optional .. When they use the incline u can either just d traditional lunges on your box or pause and and assemble your basic incline riser stepper . Search incline step on Amazon and you will see one .. I am referring to the one that is like the basic traditional aerobic steppers and it offers you the incline portion as well . Great work out I love it .. It's easy to maintain form..

You Need A Slanted Stepper For This Workout, Or, Use My Hack
I didn't realize that this was a video that used a stepper that slants. I don't have one. After searching through Amazon and this site, I did find the original firm USED steppers, but the greedy s e l l e r s want $100 plus $50 shipping. PLEASE!So I just decided to try this anyway and prop my stepper against my ottoman, which sits on a rug. Worked just fine, and I save $150!As far as the video, it's the usual Firm workout with constant changes in choreography, quick movements that get your heart rate up. Only wish the video was longer. I believe it runs about 30 minutes.

Better Than The Gym!
I'm not really one to write reviews for things, but I feel as though these workouts deserve recognition. My first experience with The Firm was a few years ago when I decided to buy and try the Transfirmer series of workouts. I wasn't necessarily a beginner at that time, but man..those workouts kicked my butt! I then ordered the previous body sculpting series videos to rotate to avoid boredom. I had great success with them but for whatever reason, I ended up joining a local gym and the The Firm videos/step began collecting dust. Fast forward to present, a husband and almost 2 year old daughter later, I decided I needed something that worked for me at home bc trying to coordinate a toddler to your desired gym schedule isn't necessarily the easiest task (not to mention wasting so much gas). It dawned on me to re-order some of The Firm workouts, new and older DVDs; no more driving 30 minutes to the gym for me! Let me tell you, as someone who is by no means a beginner when it comes to fitness, these workouts are no joke. I got a better workout with these DVDs than I did at any class or time on the treadmill/elliptical. I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who wants to get in shape and get there FAST. I can tell a change in my body already-they promise results in 10 workouts, but you'll see it before then. Trust me. What's also great is that you can make them as easy or as challenging as you desire-increase or decrease your weight. Either way, you'll get a great workout!

awful
this is for the advanced user, who doesn't need verbal instruction to keep up, after the long wait going through adds to get to the workout, I was disappointed by the instructor there is no explanation as to her moves and she shouts them out so fast you cant understand her or keep up not a good video, very disappointed and surprised the firm typically puts out good easy to follow videos this one is awful

WISH I HADN'T BOUGHT IT!!
You must have a stepper that is slanted, which I don't - or improvise, which may be unsafe. So, this is a total waste of money for me. I won't even give it to Goodwill, because I don't want anyone else to get stuck with it. Into the trash it goes.

I simply love this stepper
I simply love this stepper!! I didn't do much in the way of exercising until I started using this. It let me gradually get into a really good work out routine. I have recently started using the extenders that has allowed me to step higher. It was quite the workout!! I am so glad I got this device to help me become more mobile and in better shape!! I would differently recommend this stepper for any person wanting to get into exercising with ease!!

You need a special step!!
I bought this Dvd and Jiggle Free arms at the same time thinking the step used was just a normal step. I was wrong! A special 'The Firm' step is used which lifts up to a ramp type step, which they do lunges etc on. The workout itself is quite good, gets the heartrate up, but some of the moves are a little confusing and take a while to pick up. You can still dot he workout with a normal step to a certain degree but not to the same effect and gets a bit annoying putting the blocks on and off.Not really one unless you get the proper equipment.

Three Stars
It's taking longer to figure out the steps, but worth it
