Works well. Super easy to install.
These little guys are a great deal. In the interest of saving money and natural resources, I only heat/cool 2 rooms in my house. So it's super important that those rooms remain as tightly sealed as reasonably possible. One of my doors does a poor job of closing all the way when you give it a shove but it doesn't start to open again for a few seconds so you don't know it didn't close until you're halfway across the room. Or you don't notice at all and sits there, open, venting all you're warm/cool air out into the hot/cold house. Very annoying. So I looked up self-closers. I thought I'd be stuck with big, expensive, commercial device that would be massive overkill for my little hollow-core door. But I found a closer by Astra called the Gibcloser. And that works great and I'm happy with it. But I've also heard they can wear out kind of quickly, depending on how tightly you've got the spring wound. So I sanded down every place the door or striker plate rubbed and oiled the hinges and the opener mechanism. Still, it wouldn't close the door all the way without cranking up the tension in the closer way up and then it closed the door and also slammed it. Well, when I was checking out from the closer purchase, I looked over the 'What people who bought this also bought that...', section and I saw these. They looked too simple. A device like this would be too easy. There's gotta be a catch. But, no, they work exactly as advertised. So I picked them up as a sort of 'Plan B' and for use in other parts of the house. Right now, it's working in concert with the Astra unit but I'm going to try it out alone. If it can't quite close the door alone, I'll add a second spring on another hinge and that should be more than enough torque to close my door. If I had seen these first I would have just tried them and saved a few bucks. But, I also like the setup I have now. The two work well together. I'm sure I'll be purchasing more of there in the future.

Best purchase ever
I had a basement door that would get left open and the animals would get locked in the basement accidentally all the time. They also learned how to open the door and then they’d get stuck on the other side. This was a b-tch to squeeze and install but once it was on it was FABULOUS no one getting locked in the basement accidentally anymore and no one going in basement that shouldn’t be.Yea it’s sooooo hard to squeeze and get in place. I don’t care if it mars the paint. It hasn’t but I saw that in other reviews. I just care that my animals are safe and this is PERFECT! Also it doesn’t slam- yes it closes but it’s not a massive slam so that’s nice too.

Quick fix, but not a long term solution
I bought these to hopefully keep from telling the kids 100 times a day to close the exterior doors to the house. I installed three. This was in May 2023. The rubber on all of them failed within the first few months. All began scratching the paint off the doors. Today, February 2024, one of the springs failed, broke, and shot a piece of itself across the garage. That was dangerous and could have caused injury. Luckily, no one was hurt.I’m am going to try the spring hinges now and replace the two remaining springs. These were easy to install and did the trick, but only lasting 9-10 months, it’s not what I was hoping for. They did close the doors and saved me the increased AC/heating bill costs.

Damaged wall and door
Within only a few days the black rubber bumper had broken. The flat part of the spring also didn't actually sit flat against the door or the wall, and i ended up with a dent in the wall and a hole in the door. Complete waste and NOT RENTER FRIENDLY

Works great, but I made my own.
This door closer hinge thing works great, but had too much tension in the spring for my dog to open and close the door, so I made my own out of a large binder clip and a rubber band. Looks like crap, but it works and still allows my dog to come and go as she pleases without getting hit in the butt by the door. I realize that my case is unique, so I'd still recommend this product. 5 stars.

Works well on an interior door; a little tricky to install
The spring is used to keep a door between my laundry room and master bathroom closed. Even though the trim extended about 3/8" beyond the door the spring fit well. It was very strong and a bit hard to get into place but not a deal-breaker. It is fairly powerful and caused my door to slam more than I would like. I put a pad in the door frame which softened the impact.

Worked perfectly, saved us a lot of stress
These work way better than I thought they would, absolutely great. Had a mudroom door that occasionally wouldn't latch during the weather change and it'd sometimes swing open on it's own if we forgot to lock it. Put two on, and it now closes the door strong enough to latch it every time - but is still easy to push open. Install was super quick, took 5 minutes without a helper. The trick was to space the arms out against the door, then push inwards so it flattened with one hand while I was free to re-install the pin with the other. For anyone pointing out the potential for damage - yeah it's going to rub against the paint unless you put padding or tape underneath, but it's a miracle it works so well for so cheap. And they sent me 4 when I only needed two. Great stuff, takes the stress away from wondering if the door is closed - it always is.

Simple and effective
I’ve installed 2 of these. They do a really good job of closing doors fully but not too fast. Amazingly simple. It requires a bit of force to twist the spring when you first install. But have been working great. I have spares in case they break - they are getting used multiple times every day.
