Great addition to the grill
This makes a fun addition to the grill, and really helps when you're hosting a party or something. It's a solid meat stand, and comes with two different length rods you can use. Since the bottom is heavy and has a bit of a tray, you can get quite creative making something on this, and it will support a roast or chicken without issue. It's a bit heavy, so you'll have to have a solid grill or fire to place this on. But it doesn't tip over, and can be used to cut the meat on as well. Clean up is pretty easy as this is made of solid steel, and simply assembled.

Works well for the right use
So this is a pretty simple item. It's a flat metal base, with a metal skewer that screws into the base vertically. (It actually comes with TWO skewers. They're both the same diameter (about 7mm, just over a quarter inch) but they vary in length, with one being about 9" high/long and the other about 12" high/long. The base is fairly heavy (about 1 lb 3 oz), to help prevent it from tipping over. The product page describes this item as being for "Tacos Al Pastor, Shawarma, Brazilian Churrasco." I would potentially agree with the first two, since they are usually prepared on a vertical rotisserie. (Although it's important to note that this item is NOT a rotisserie. It does not move at all.) Depending upon your cooking set-up and heat source, you may want to consider turning the spit 90 degrees every so-often during cooking, to ensure even heating and browning. Even with that, with a vertical rotisserie, the heat is coming from THE SIDE, so the amount of heat being applied is fairly constant from the bottom of the vertical skewer to the top. With this item, being placed on a grill, your heat source will be coming from THE BOTTOM, so the food at the bottom has a tendency to cook more quickly than the food nearer the top. Especially with something like chicken, make sure to check the internal temperature at the top, as well as at the bottom. As for Brazilian churrasco, I've only ever seen it cooked (and cooked it) on a *horizontal* spit (it's only *served* vertically), but more importantly, I feel like with churrrasco, the constant motion is more critical to the end-product you're looking for. I also worry that, even more than with the thin slices of schawarma or al pastor, if a large chunk of meat is cooked vertically, the temperature gradient between the top and the bottom will cause significantly different "donenesses" at any given point in time. That said, at some point, I may try to cook a picanha on this skewer, just to see what happens.I tried using this to make a small chicken schawarma in a gas grill, and the results were decent, although I did rotate the whole thing in the grill every 10 minutes or so. I only had about 4" of height, so the cooking differences between the top and the bottom were not that great. But if you went all the way up to 9" or especially 12", I think that's be much more of an issue to watch out for.Clean-up of the item was easy and straightforward. For the correct uses, I would say that this item works decently well. But if you're looking for top-notch schawarma or al pastor, or especially for great Brazilian churrasco, I'm not sure this item is up to the task.

Nearly Perfect
This fits a need for our home...we'll be able to properly cook tacos al pastor or gryos on my home grill...which is just a lot of fun to do. We typically only do something like this when we're having some type of get together so I really like that there are 2 sizes. Depending on the size of the party, this spit will scale. I also wanted to mention that the base is nice and heavy....in fact it's heavier than expected. My only complaint is that they didn't do a great job finishing the edges...they are a bit rough. All in all though, this is a very nice addition to our cookware/grilling accessories.

Awesome verticle skewer!!
I got to say I was pretty excited to get this skewer. It came with two skewers and the heavy base. They simply screw together and away you go. I have used mine twice so far and it really allows you to make some delicious meals. I have managed to make and amazing pork and pineapple dish and a beef roast that was sliced, seasoned and stacked. Both were recipes that I couldn't have made without this item. It is a lot of fun and can really open up some creativity in the kitchen. Both times I have had long cooks in a smoker and that stuff can be hard to clean. Not with this bad boy. I simply threw it in some soapy water for a while and let it soak. It came clean fast and easily.

Works as described great for the grill
We stacked up a bunch of thin meat and cooked it on the grill it worked great. Just took awhile to cook. Still trying to figure out correct temperature and how to cook properly but happy with what we made.

Works Great
This is a great meat stand. The base is just the right size so its sturdy but not too big for using in multiple things. It's made of stainless steel. It has two rod sizes 9" and 11/5", which screw into the base for easy install. I didn't have any issues using the rods. It was relatively easy to clean.

Great skewers
These are really great skewers designed for making all sorts of great grill recipes. The horizontal cooking allows the juices to drip down and add the flavor as it drips. There are lots of great recipes from around the world that use this method of cooking. So get a pair of these and explore a new area of cooking.
