Flashpoint: Season 1 (Blu-ray)

I'll first note that I am a fan of this series and have indeed seen all five seasons. I definitely want to note that each season was more thrilling than the last with their own high points and low points, emotional scenes, and goose-bump raising moments.With that out of the way, Flashpoint is a TV series based on the Canadian Strategic Response Unit (SRU), which is fictional by the way. Handling situations above and beyond the duties of regular officers, such as hostage negotiations, the SRU team of interest uses teamwork, negotiation skills/tactics, and their own personal experience to resolve life threatening issues.I gave this show, and specifically season one, five stars due to the character development, action packed stories, and amazing continuation/consistency in story and quality from episode to episode. Flashpoint showcases teamwork, perseverance, dedication, and the importance of family, both blood and bond. I can't say I've seen any show which so successfully intermixes the rigors of working in a SWAT/hostage negotiation/bomb disposal unit with each character's own/unique life, family, and relationship issues. No complaints and I'm sure you will not be disappointed with this show.

I bought the Season One set only because of the review here on Amazon. WAS I ever surprised--I LOVE this show. The characters are great, the stories are action-packed, very informative technically, and very sensitive to death, family relationships, etc. I find each episode uplifting in some way, yet was on the edge of my seat while watching it. These cast members seem to work so well together--unlike other such series, where it takes a season or two for the actors to establish their characters and the interrelationships among them. I have not yet found a weak link among the cast, though I was sorry to see, in one of the first episodes, this handsome, great character, replaced by a new guy. Not even sure if there IS a second season this year, now, but SURE hope so. It's at the top of my "To Buy" list.

This is an excellent TV series that has been on for about 4 years now. It is produced in Canada and has been carried by Fox. There seems to be a question as to it's future according to the internet (I'm not sure why?)as it has an excellent cast and is well written. We actually could use more shows like it and less of the awful reality "stuff" we seem to be currently stuck with. I'd suggest you give it a try if you've not seen it and once you get to know the characters I believe you'll like it. I love TV that lets you "think" now and then. This series is a winner, I just hope it's not cancelled......

I watched a couple of these episodes on cable, and I was absolutely addicted to it. The characters mesh so well together that I couldn't help but make them part of my family. There's excitement, anxious moments, great interaction between the main characters and the individuals they are assisting and/or pursuing. The unfolding drama of each episode completely envelops the viewer. I can't help but get engrossed in each and every episode. The characters work so well together; the show is written so it captures my attention and I've actually watched one season in one sitting!

Discovered this show late one night. I found it most intriguing. I ordered Vol 1 & @ 2 to see how the show began. Loved how the show starts with a critical stage, when lives are on the line, then reverted to hours earlier to show how things got to such dire straights. Then, it continues through to the conclusion. It catches your attention quickly. Very clever. I watched Vol 1 pretty quickly and am on the last disk on Vol 2 now. I ordered Vol 3 & 4 before I finished with Vol 1. I love this series.

Ditto on what previous reviewers said. But once you get hooked, be sure to order seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5 from amazon.ca (Canada). CBS apparently bought this series for these seasons and split season 2 into season 2 & part of 3, then used the original season 3 to issue season 3 & 4 and then produced season 5 themselves in a shortened version. Very confusing. I tried US Amazon version and got really mixed up. And I'm brunette (exteriorly). Cruel trick to play an middle-aged woman!

Only Canadians must have rated this show with 5 stars because it's really boring by US standards.Also there are no subtitles
