Compact and easy to use
This worked really well as a second monitor. It comes with a case so it was easy to store without worrying about the screen getting damaged. I love how compact it was as I needed it when working remote. It fits nicely in a backpack and doesn’t take up a lot of space. It’s easy to use. Hooking it up was super quick, just a few cords. The brightness on the display was nice, I never had an issue of it being too dark. Overall this is a great monitor.

Great value for the convenience.
This lightweight screen is versatile and easy to use. The monitor has hi-resolution and is as big as my laptop screen. Great value! It’s been very convenient to throw in my backpack for out of state travel or cross town trips alike. I’m a fan of the case it comes with an options for cords. Please note that only has one half of the length as a stand. Works for me, but may not work for everyone.

Very Good. Viewsonic 15.6” vs Arzopa 15.6”
We were comparing this portable screen to Arzopa15.6”. Both have 1080P resolution, similar input/output connectivity, both can power a laptop through the monitor’s USB-C connection provided the monitor is plugged into an outlet. The Arzopa has an aluminum frame which makes it look more professional and sleek. The Viewsonic is plastic, which makes it weigh less, which is great for mobility, but it feels cheaper and not as durable. Also the Arzopa comes with more USB cables. I had to use a personal wall charger and USB to USB-C cord to power up the Viewsonic since one of my laptops does not have a USB-C port. The main issue with the Arzopa monitor is that it does not sit upright very well. The foldable “smart” cover which also acts as the stand does not support the display well and the display tends to slide down if it is accidentally bumped. I was concerned that this would eventually result in the monitor sliding off the table and onto the floor and breaking. The Viewsonic has a plastic fold out kickstand. It allows you to prop the monitor in portrait or landscape orientation. Because of the better stand, we chose the Viewsonic 15.6” portable monitor over the Arzopa 15.6”. Hope you found this helpful.

I am very satisfied
This is the second ViewSonic VA1655 I have purchased. I like the size, screen quality and the fact that is lightweight and portable. I had previously had two old VGA monitors and it has a much better screen quality. The first VA1655 was connected to my Windows computer that had a spare USB-C port making the connection easy using the supplied USB-C cable for power and video. I just connected it and it worked. This VA1655 is connected to a Raspberry PI 5 (RPI5) which does not have a USB-C connection nor any audio connections. I purchased an UpBright 5V AC/DC Adapter Compatible with ViewSonic VA1655 from Amazon power supply. When I tried to connect the monitor, I discovered the monitor has a mini-HDMI and a USB-C interface and the RPI5 had a micro-HDMI connection. I found a mico-HDMI to USB-C cable on Amazon Seadream Micro HDMI Type D Male to Mini HDMI Type C Male Connector Adapter Cable Cord. After I connected everything, the monitor did not work. After a bit of troubleshooting, I discovered unlike my first VA1655 this one was not turned on. I turned it on and the videos worked. I then tested the audio and it did not work. I then found the user manual and found that sound was turned off. There is what ViewSonic calls a joy key which took a bit to understand. The user guide is excellent. It is at https://manuals.viewsonic.com/VA1655_Full_Guide. I plan to purchase third VA1655 to have two monitors on the RPI5.

HDMI Cable Problems (Fixed), +2 Stars
Update: I tried something pretty crazy to improve the situation with the HDMI cable. Basically I figured it wasn't staying seated, which means that it didn't have enough force to stay fully inserted into the monitor. So I pried open the shield around the hdmi connector to the device, to make it larger. It holds in tight now, doesn't come loose, and I don't lose the monitor connection any more. Likely the same thing could have been solved with a new mini-hdmi cable, but I was impatient. Overall it's a nice monitor, but I'm having a problem with it. Specifically, if I even touch the hdmi cable attached slightly, the screen turns disconnects. So if I move the monitor, or even get up and something shakes, the monitor loses the hdmi connection to the computer. I am using the mini hdmi cable from ViewSonic, and I'll consider getting a different one. But still, it feels really cheap, and has been annoying. Surprisingly, I've purchased these crappy little LCDs from china for a fraction of the price, and they're incredibly reliable. They don't waste their time with that mini hdmi connection, and it's solid as heck.

Low quality item
The piece that connects the HDMI cord fell out and ViewSonic won’t replace it, the product is very cheaply made and ViewSonic only guarantees that this product works for up to 3 years. I don’t recommend this item at all

I love this monitor, super light
I love this monitor, super light, it works jut with the USB-C cable, no need to plug the HDMI cable, sound is good enough, not to see a movie... but works fine for daily work, I'll love if it had a base to make it vertical...

My in-depth review with iPad Pro and MacBook Pro and Bluetooth speaker
I bought the ViewSonic VA1655 last week and received it a few days ago. Here is an early review after connecting it to my stuff. Sharpness: The display is full HD, so it looks fairly sharp. It won't be as sharp as the retina displays of my 14-inch MacBook Pro M! or my 11-inch iPad Pro M2. But I think trying to retina on this portable monitor would be overkill. Brightness: At work, I use a Chromebook that is rated 220 nits. Its display is bright enough, even in the cubical/office space where many big windows expose lots of sunlight. Since the Viwwsonic VA1655 is rated 250 nits, I expected it would be bright enough. It is. I would not expect to be able to use it if I had a huge beam of direct sunlight on the screen, but frankly, I think I'd have some trouble using my iPad or MacBook that way. Colors: I connected the Viewsonic to my MacBook Pro M1, duplicated a photo, and displayed it on the Viewsonic and the MacBook. I did not see a difference. Granted, I am not a photographer, and I am a little colorblind. But I read reviews claiming the colors on the Viewsonic looked washed out, and I did see that. But those with higher standards than mine might want to put in the proper research, since I have read that the Viewsonic color gamut is not real high. Your milage may vary. Gaming: I do not play video games, so I cannot judge how well the Viewsonic handles that. I rated gaming at 3 stars to try to be neutral. And I know that not paying video games might damage my geek cred. I still read comic books. MacBook Pro: The USB-C cable connects to my MacBook Pro and the display and the display instantly shows up. It looks decent side-by-side. Not bad! iPad Pro: The USB-C connection works fine, although I had to find the right Settings and turn on Stage Manager to make the Viewsonic show as an external display without mirroring. I use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The mouse is needed to navigate the Viewsonic display (I doubt that a touchscreen portable monitor would have touchscreen functionality with the iPad). But it does drain the iPad battery faster. I can plug power into the extra USB-C port on the monitor to charge the iPad, that works fine. iPad Pro and USB hub: I have a USB hub that I use to plug stuff into my iPad (like flash drives and external hard drives or SD drives). When I connected the hub to the iPad Pro, and then connected the USB-C data port on the hub to the Viewsonic, it did not carry a video signal. So I connect the Viewsonic display to the USB hub like this: 1. Bluetooth-connect my external keyboard and mouse to the iPad. 2. To power the Viewsonic, connect a USB-A-to-USB-C cable to a USB 3.0 port on the hub, then to the USB-C port on the Viewsonic. 3. To carry the video signal, connect the Viewsonic HDMI cable to the hub, and then to the Viewsonic mini HDMI port. 4. Optional: Plug power into the USB-C PD (power delivery) port on the hub to supply power to the iPad. 5. Connect the hub to the iPad USB-C port. From this experience, my advice is if you buy a portable monitor, buy one with an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, and an audio port. I have used them on my Viewsonic VA1655. (Except the audio port, but I am sure it works.) Audio: The speakers sound tinny, but I did not expect good sound from them anyhow. When I connect the Viewsonic to my MacBook Pro, I select the MacBook Pro speakers for better sound. When I plug the Viewsonic into the iPad, the iPad audio automatically switches to the Viewsonic speakers with no option to switch back to the iPad speakers. (I believe this would happen with any portable monitor.) If I want better sound, I can connect to one of my Bluetooth speakers and switch to it. Or I could plug a speaker or headphones into the Viewsonic audio port. The little kickstand: Some reviews comment that the kickstand can break easily. I take that into account when I pull the kickstand out, I open it with care. I get my fingers in underneath, close to the hinge, to avoid stress on that hinge. The kickstand works well, the little rubber feet grip smooth surfaces well (in landscape orientation). The Viewsonic is steady enough on a flat surface in landscape orientation, but portrait is kinda tippy (I am unlikely to use portrait anyhow). Weight and Sturdiness: The Viewsonic VA1655 display is lightweight, which feels nice. It makes my old 22-inch display (lower resolution, so iPad would only allow mirrored display) feel like a boat anchor (I will donate it somewhere). The Viewsonic does feel plasticy, because it is made of plastic. No metal frame to sturdy it up. However, It does not feel flimsy. I keep it in the included pouch when not in use. iPad as a MacBook: The Viewsonic monitor and the USB hub will let me use the iPad more like a MacBook, which I am likely to do if I have to take my MacBook Pro into the shop. I can plug other devices into the hub, like a USB flash drive or an external hard drive or SD drive, but I have read that it is best to not plug too much into the hub at once. I have read that can overwork the iPad USB-C port and give the iPad a heart attack. Price: I bought the Viewsonic VA1655 for about about $100 (normally $140), so it was a very good deal. I am happy with it.

Super Lightweight, Portable & Great Quality Display
I loved the three parrots for the logo on the casing. It's so beautifully from yesteryears design sensibilities. Btw the packaging that you will receive your screen in is a lovely briefcase style package with a handle and a large print across the package with those lovely parrots in full "HD". It's absolutely lovely! I'm using this beautiful monitor as a second screen for my laptop. And I can tell you that it is absolutely fantastic! The quality of the display is up to date to modern standards with a beautiful 360 degree viewing angle, sharp and high contrast pixels, and vivid colors! I am so happy with my purchase! PS You also receive a lovely padded bag! Absolutely brilliant for transport or for storing your screen while it's not in use. ViewSonic (and especially this screen) come highly recommended from this buyer!
