Does this material hold up well to dog scratches?

My dog is on our couch several times a day. There are no pulled places on the cover.

I have a smaller sized recline with wooden legs. I see most of the pics show the sides go to the floor. Will this work for my recliner?

The side, seat and back covers are separate pieces. The side pieces are designed to cover the full length of the recliner arms and sides.

There is no way to pass through the strings from the seat to the back. Has anyone found a solution when there is no access to tie it on?

I'm not sure how to answer this question. We just turned our recliner upside down and it let us come through and tie it. If you don't have a recliner I cannot suggest another way. Sorry.
