A+ Results
We have a Bernedoodle with a serious digestive disorder. Basically, her body doesn’t properly process food (protein in particular). Working with our vet, we’ve tried *many* different over-the-counter and prescription dog foods without much success. When the owner of a Goldendoodle with tummy troubles recommended Solid Gold, we opted to give the Solid Gold Healthy Weight Management kibble a go, thinking its lower fat content might be easier to digest. Incredibly, it’s working, and our dog loves the taste! It appears we may have finally found a yummy (to her), easily digestible option with all of the nutrients she needs. Every dog is different, but for us, so far, this is a game changer.

My dogs love it and the ingredients are much better than a lot of others.
My dogs love this food! They did not have any stomach troubles transitioning from their old food and they gobbled this new food right up. I wanted to try this fish based blend because my dog has allergies and I read that chicken based foods can cause them to flare up and itch. (This does have chicken it in but it's way down the ingredients list so no too much.) Although my girl is still itching, it's only been a week so I am going to keep it up and see if this helps. My other dog is a little on the heavy side so it's great for him too since it's low calorie. It definitely smells a little fishy, but I keep their food in the laundry room so not too much of an issue there. I think this one is a winner.

Dogs loved it
I made the mistake of changing my dogs over to a food that had 15% fat (they had been eating 12%). This, of course, caused them to gain weight, even with decent exercise. I found the Fit and Fabulous Alaskan Pollock, and it had about everything I was looking for. However, as a pet parent who previously had a dog with a heart condition, the pea fiber bejng the 3rd ingredient weighed too heavily on my mind, so I switched do another Solud Gold Product that listed it as the 3rd ingredient. Now, my dogs had been switched over to Kirkland brand salmon and sweet potato. They were OK with it, but the 15% fat was a deal breaker. When switched to the Alaskan Pollock, and trying to slowly transition them, they would eat the Pollock out, and leave the old Kirkland food. This means they had diarrhea and upset tummies. This was not the fault of the product. After 2 weeks, and a day or two of tummy meds, they were totally fine. They do like this food. They do seem to have more energy. They have not been eating it long enough to see a weight difference, though. The protein to fat content is really good, possibly too low of fat content for extremely active dogs, but that's for a vet to decide, really. This product is the least expensive, and I would not have switched if the pea ingredients had been farther down on the list. My dogs may not be at risk for heart issues, and the pea fiber may not cause issues, but having had a past dog with heart issues, I just decided to switch. This would be a good subject for your vet, because yiur dog may not be one that is at risk. This would be a 5 star out of the gate, if it weren't for the peas being too high on the ingredients. The pieces are small enough to go in puzzles, treat dispensers, treat balls, withiut getting stuck. This food would actually be good as treats, which is what I will probably do if I have any left when the new food arrives. The food is not "bad", peas are not "bad", but check with your vet first, and just know if they like this food more than yheir old food, it will be a week or so of diarrhea from the change in food, not necessarily from the food itself. Video.is of how much one of the dogs loves the flavor (and the snuffle mat). She does not care that the robot vacuum is trying to clean up around her, she is determined to get all the food out of the snuffle mat.

Satisfactory for the price
I've been using this company's animal products for 30 years. I avoid products containing corn, wheat or soy due to possible herbicide use and potatoes are questionable. I like the 26% protein and although I'd prefer it a bit higher, that would cost considerably more and not really necessary for my small, old and inactive dog.

Finally!!!
I’ve been struggling for years to get the weight down a bit in my older dog without starving her. I talked to my vet about this before purchasing. She was pleased with the caloric content and nutrition listed. She recommended the amount to feed and that’s what I’m doing. I highly recommend a slow feeder. She was inhaling her food so fast she was cooking on it, because she’s hungry. Putting her on portions from full feed was a real struggle but the slow feeder helps her feel more satisfied and enjoy her food longer. You always hear these cliche ads about “my dog is a puppy again since losing weight using this random product” but seriously, she went from laying around all the time to peeling her ears up a little more often and now she’s running laps around the yard and keeping up with her three year old sister. We’ve been using this for a little over a year. It takes patience because dogs don’t lose weight like people. It’s very slow. It was a really long process to get her portions to a healthy amount. Going straight to the recommended amount made her feel like she was starving. YOU KNOW YOUR DOG. If they need a little more than they should have at the start of this new diet/lifestyle change then give it to them but gradually keep backing it off. Her breath smells better and she’s not a stink butt anymore. I’m seeing a lot more benefits than they advertise.
