Works great after some practice!
I initially had trouble using this with our basic De'Longhi espresso machine. Would get spray everywhere. It turns out it was user error. After getting a better grinder, better practice filling and tamping, I was able to get it to work. Makes for great espressos. So just be aware it takes some practice to prep the coffee puck to get it work as you might expect.

Holds 18g just right
This bottomless portafilter feels solid and well made. The stainless steel body has good weight to it and doesn’t feel cheap. The handle is comfortable and sturdy, and it locks in securely on my machine without any issues. The fit is good, and it’s a great upgrade if you want better visibility on your extractions. Once dialed in, the shots pull smoothly and evenly. Definitely a noticeable improvement over the stock portafilter. For the price, it’s a strong value and feels built to last. I had a extra handle and switch out to make more my aesthetics

A bottomless/unpressurized portafilter/sump that fits the DeLonghi EC702
OK: it fits, and is just a tiny bit snug/hard to insert sometimes, but I presume that it'll wear a bit over time and get easier. Also, it's better too snug than not snug enough (I presume). I wanted a bottomless portafilter AKA sump so that I could make bigger cups of espresso on my somewhat ancient (but still running) DeLonghi EC702 espresso machine (I'm not going to bother to google whether or not the L in DeLonghi is actually supposed to be upper case) ...the original portafilter is pressurized, and even when full of packed grounds, can barely produce an ounce or two of espresso... let the water run any longer than that and it's coming out almost clear, resulting in an Americano (best case) or just undrinkably watery coffee (worst case). Being bottomless, you can use the deepest 51mm diameter filter basket you can find... the one I'm using is a '4 cup' basket, which is roughly 1.25 inches deep, the bottom of which sticks out just a bit below the body of the portafilter (ie: where the 'bottomless' thing comes in handy). With this, I put in quite a bit of ground espresso, tamp it down medium-firm, and rotate the tamping thingy (yes, I'm sure it has a specific name) a bit as I finish tamping to leave a smooth, level surface. This seems to give me a decent amount of espresso (I add a bit of foamed milk, and drink it from a mug) and most mornings, I can resist the urge to make a second one despite my gluttony. I've no idea if the way I make it is the 'right' way since I've never been a barista and don't have the patience to sit through most Youtube videos... a friend (who HAS been a barista) has promised to come by sometime and observe/critique my technique and I'm open to self-improvement. Anyway (now that you're read all this nonsense) this particular bottomless 51mm sump was one of several available on Amazon when I shopped, and it seemed to be the sturdiest looking/least annoying of the bunch, so I bought it. It's pleasantly chunky, which suits my paw-like hand NAD the look and feel of the EC702, the handle is shiny and comfortable, and it seems like it ought to last a while (the threaded rod at the end of the handle is thick and coarsely threaded, and goes into a metal receptacle; nothing screws directly into plastic, so that's good). It wasn't exactly inexpensive at about $36 at the time of purchase, but the others weren't that much cheaper and looked worse. Besides, not to jinx myself, but I gotta assume the lifespan of a consumer-grade espresso machine like the EC702 is somewhat more finite than that of this sump/handle. I would definitely recommend this item if you want to use a bottomless/unpressurized portafilter on your compatible (51mm) espresso machine: it seems well made and it works as intended. -Scott :-)

Excellent Results If You Know What You’re Doing
So far it’s been flawless. I honestly question the user whenever I see a bad review. There’s a lot that goes into pulling the perfect shot of espresso, you don’t just dump in coffee grounds and hope it works. If you’re a beginner looking for the perfect shot with little effort, you’ll need to spend $600+ on a smart machine. If you want to save money and don’t mind putting in a bit more work, you’ll need a good conical grinder, a scale, a portafilter funnel, and a bottomless portafilter like this one.

hot water just run through
Hot water just run through fast without to take flavor out of the coffee. I wanted to try it based on some picture, but those must be fake pics. it transform the espresso machine in a bad percolating coffee machine. it's solid, heavy and easy to clean, fit my delonghi without problem but results are extremely poor.

Solid and advanced
Heavy and solid. With it you don’t have to remove the filter from the holder after each use, which is a great feature!

I don’t really like it.
It’s very difficult to grind the coffee properly. Most of the time, the coffee doesn’t flow straight down — it splashes everywhere, going all over the place except into the cup.

A great choice for De'Longhi ECP3420
When I originally went to replace the De'Longhi portafilter on my unit, I went with a cheaper one thinking they would all be about the same. That one, it turned out did not perform well, the wooden handle became loose and the portafilter still leaked when screwed completely into the machine. With some reluctance, I bought this one to replace it even though it cost $15 more. As it turned out, this was a good investment. The handle doesn't come loose, and it screws tightly into the machine with no leaking. Plus, it matches the machine better in appearance than the wooden-handled one did. As with any naked portafilter, your grind and tamp will be more critical than with the original portafilter. The one that comes with the machine is designed to bring the pressure up to 9 bars by forcing all the water through a tiny hole in the bottom. The quality of your tamp has little effect on the results unless you overtamp it. When using this portafilter, you'll need to find just the right grind fineness and tamp pressure to get good results (although, even my lesser results have been better than what I was getting with the portafilter that came with the machine). Well worth the price.

it’s an excellent portafilter, and with steady hands, everything will work perfectly
It’s a bit strange to read reviews saying that coffee sprays everywhere with this portafilter. It doesn’t offer any special advantage over a standard portafilter in terms of taste or espresso quality. What this filter actually provides: 1. If you make mistakes when tamping the coffee, it may result in splashes, uneven flow, and other issues. This means your tamping technique is incorrect and needs practice. Once tamping is done correctly, the result will be excellent and splash-free. 2. It is significantly more compact in height, which allows you to place coffee scales on your machine’s platform. 3. It enables more experimentation with grind size.

Quality product that fits IMS basket on delonghi
If you have a delonghi espresso machine with two ears portafilter and want to start with unpressurised basket. This is the perfect tool. High quality and affordable price. Don't buy it unless you have a espresso level grinder.
