Buscar (Somos8)

I’m a native Spanish speaker and avid reader. I bought this book as a Christmas present for my 3.5 year old daughter and my 2 year old boy. They love it! And so do I! It has original illustrations that take you to a special world, and a story fun and valuable for both parents and children which is written in perfectly correct and beautiful Spanish. Plus it invites children to interact with the book by counting things or leaving a page for them to paint on. I’m looking forward to buying more books of this author in the future!

My review is based on the original Spanish version, not a translation. This was our first book from Olga de Dios and it made her one of our favorite Spanish-language children's book authors! Her books are truly original works that she both writes and illustrates. This one is still our favorite, though. The drawings, style, and characters are so creative, silly, weird, and engaging. It's a world similar to our own, but fanciful. There's something reminiscent of Where the Wild Things Are, Dr. Seuss, and Harold and the Purple Crayon, but don't expect a "once upon a time" story. In my opinion, her work is award-winning. This book and the story-line is simple enough to read with a 2 year old, but in meaning, and because of the details in her drawings, complex enough for a 7 year old. Her message here is a beautiful, humanistic one - make sure to look around you and you may see what you've been missing.

En casa nos encanta Olga de Dios así que poco a poco nos vamos haciendo con todos sus libros para peques.Todos sus libros tienen un trasfondo detrás para reflexionar con los niños. En este caso la historia nos ayuda a valorar lo que tenemos a nuestro alrededor y que no siempre vemos. Muy acertado además precisamente en estos tiempos en los que no podemos ver a todas las personas que queremos.Si bien al principio es un poco monótono ya que solo cambian los personajes que le preguntan a Bu: Hola, ¿qué haces?, más adelante se convierte en una historia llena de imágenes y llena de vocabulario que pica a los peques a contar todos los objetos que pone que hay en cada página.Un detalle muy bonito es que al final del libro hay un par de páginas en las que dice que puedes dibujar lo que te dé la gana como ya viene haciendo en otros libros como Leotolda.Nos ha gustado mucho así que seguiremos completando la colección de libros de esta autora.

Es de esos libros que compras para los niños, pero te dejan un mensaje a ti. Apreciar lo bello que hay a nuestro alrededor y olvidar la tristeza de buscar algo que desconocemos para sentirnos mejor.
