Is it real damascus or painted on?

Technically the art of making Damascus steel is long since gone. The secret died out over a century ago. What they do now is usually forge soft and hard metals together to obtain the look of Damascus steel. I do own this knife. It is beautiful, sturdy and a pleasure to hold and carry. Make sure you oil it from time to time.

Where are the knives shipped from ?

That depends on the knife. I've purchased knives that came directly from overseas, some directly from a store or shop, and some from Amazon. It just depends. No matter where they come from, look at the quality and composition. That's why you see multiple listings for the same knife. They are essentially the same.
