KeylessOption Keyless Entry Remote Car Key Fob Alarm for 1998-2006 Mitsubishi Montero, Montero Sport E4EG8D-522M-A

I bought this for my 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited. I was leery about buying it but I thought I would try it before paying the exorbitant fees the dealers charge. Well, I read the instructions and saw the videos and it didn't work. But I went online and searched for YouTube videos and finally found something remotely similar. So it turns out the instructions were correct. BUT THEY HAVE LEFT OUT ONE STEP. I have added the step and instructions below. #7 is the item that inserted in order for the programming to work. 1. Locate the Data Link Connector it will look like the picture above. It will be located on the driver's side under the dash. 2. INSERT key into ignition to the OFF position. 3. On the Data Link Connector use a paperclip to jump pins 1 and 4 make sure to come in contact with the metal. (leave the connection jumped until instructed to remove) 4. In less than 10 seconds of making the connection turn press the hazard light button 6 times. The vehicle will respond by cycling the locks to confirm it has successfully entered programming mode. 5. PUSH the LOCK button 3 times on the first remote you are programming (order does not matter). The vehicle will cycle the door locks to confirm successful programming. 6. Remove the jumper wire from step 7. (MY STEP) TURN THE IGNITION KEY ON AND START THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF. Then this should work. The distance is great. It works from 20 yards from my car. I highly recommend this.

Could NOT be programmed for my 2006 Mitsubishi Montero

06 montero. Works well although can't unlock from far but not an issue for me. Programming is a breeze as long as you have some kind of jumper wire. Pin 1 and 4. Pin 4 is ground so you can go pin 1 to chassis ground instead of pin 4.

It works. Instructions for programming are clear and straight. It's a bit of trial and error, specially making the right connection. But it definitely works. Also you may need to reprogram your original remote, I think whenever your car enters in program mode it clears previous remotes.

So far this does not seem to be a listing for a product that will work with 98 monteros. The fcc id I am getting when I order is 2AOVX-M1 not E4EG8D-522M-A as advertised. These operate on two close but differing frequencies of 313.85 and 315hz respectively. Neither have any effect on my vehicle once I have gotten the keyless entry into programming mode, no response whatsoever on both units. Waiting on seller response.
