desertcart.com : Fresh Cacao Seeds for Planting - Wet Cocoa Seeds - Make Chocolate, Great as Bonsai (4 Seeds) : Patio, Lawn & Garden Review: arrived fermented and non-viable, second order is same. - I ordered this item TWICE and BOTH times the seeds arrived soaking wet in the white flesh of the fruit, stinky of yeast activity with package BALLOONING from CO2 production. DO NOT ORDER THESE. I thought the first delivery I would try to plant them anyways so I scraped the white flesh off and planted them in my most tropical soil mix I have ever made and gave it excellent sprouting conditions from a collection of correllating information from a set of research papers... they all failed to sprout and upon analysis they were fermented into unroasted chocolate. The second order was even worse condition when delivered. I STRONGLY suspect this is the desired outcome of the company selling these items and wont even try to argue with them, I dont feel like arguing with scammer gaslighting profiteers who send bad seeds because they themselves are bad seeds. I can't handle being told "its your fault they arrived in that condition". Everything I have purchased from CZ seeds has been subpar or non-viable Review: Key is heat? - UPDATE 6/19/22 Heat is for sure the key. The seeds did end up sprouting but when I moved them inside for the winter they did struggle in a cooler basement. I've ordered the same seeds off Etsy sellers and they have sprouted no problem with the use of a heating mat...If you want these to sprout, get a heating mat. So, I’ve ordered this twice…And, after talking to them about the issues with the seeds, they sent another couple seeds for me. I believe I know as to why the seeds are not sprouting for many. I was guilty of it on my first round. These seeds are not like any other seeds. They NEED heat. If they get too cold, they rot. I’ve found that out after researching videos. They’re local to hot and humid places. I assume many are ordering in places that are not an ideal location. My second round is under a 25 watt red reptile lamp in a terrarium. I don’t have a heating mat, so that is the best I could do when I received them. Will this work? I don’t know, but it’s atleast getting heat at around 80 degrees. I’ve giving this one last shot and calling in the towel. They did come wet with the white skin on them(which is good, if they dry, they are not viable) and also came with a little bit of root. So, who knows. I’ll update if something happens.

Customer service is amazing!
CZ Grain really does want you to be happy with their products. I ordered these seeds from them, and for whatever reason, more than likely my fault, the seeds did not grow, and so I contacted the company, and I got a response back almost immediately, and this was on a weekend, so I was expecting to hear back during the business week, after a few emails back and forth they sent me out some new seeds and gave me some help on making sure my next encounter went smoothly. I will definitely be coming back to buy more seeds from them. I just got some yumberries from them, and cannot wait to try them out.

Good seeds!
I’ll start this review by saying it is my first ever. I ordered 8 cocoa beans for planting and did my best to keep them warm and watered. Unfortunately, it seems they were all eaten by gnat larvae! I messaged the seller and let them know my attempt was a loss, and they were awesome and offered to replace or refund. I took a replacement and am working on growing them now. An important thing to know when you get these is the seeds need to stay in the pod to not decay, the seller’s workaround is putting them in a baggy with the fruit pulp. They are indeed alive, albeit a bit smelly when first out of the bag. I am getting tap roots now, and trying to find a good medium that doesn’t expose them to gnats. If I am unable to get these to fully grow, I will be coming back to buy more and try again! If I succeed and remember to I will try to post pictures when they sprout.
