This book has had a lot of research and thought put into it.

I love the fact that the book start off with the history and each topic is detail. There is no dull moment in the book. It is very interesting and will keep you reading.

Great book on laying out Native American metaphysical beliefs. She discusses the major points that Native Americans live by. You can easily adopt some of these ideas into your own metaphysical path.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the books by Mari Silva for four reasons in particular. First, her books are succinct but thorough. For more detail of each subject, the author gives references for further study. Second, the author writes in a way that is easily understood. Maybe most important is that the author is simply a gifted writer. You can tell that she truly enjoys talking about whatever the topic is for that book. She always encourages you to be open and broaden your mind, without any kind of judgement. she literally invites every person to participate and makes it clear that the subject matter is written for everyone...not just a privileged few. Finally she always treats the subject with great respect.This book is in two parts, the first being Native American Shamanism and the second, Animal Spirit guides. In the first book the author breaks Shamanism down into history, core beliefs, rituals, and dreamwork...and as always, she gives step-by-step help in doing or making something related to the topic. In this case, how to build a dream catcher!The second book talks about animals in Shamanism. I found her explanation of the difference between animal spirit guides and power animals to be helpful. She discusses how to determine your animal spirit guide, your power animal, and the various things one can do with your animal spirit and power animals. She gives lists and details on how to perform certain rituals.I think the final thing I so appreciate, not just in this book but in her other books too, is her tremendous respect for the subject. In this case it is the study of Shamanism as well as Spirit Guides. She encourages the reader to do the same. As always Ms. Silva gives us what I would call a resource library at the end of the book, for further study. Well done.

Mari Silva's mystical books are great at explaining the history and the ideas and rituals of Natural Spirituality, the message I most understood is that to be in touch and in balance you have to continue learning knowing. I am not an expert on Native American culture, but the different nations have different beliefs, methods and spirit animals can have different meanings as well so just be aware of that while reading this book. The book is a good starter for learning about shamanism and spirit animals.

This book is fantastic for anyone that is curious and/or beginning their educational journey into these topics. The author did a fantastic job of creating a broad explanation of past and present practices in a concise format. She offers details on the history, beliefs and rituals performed by the Native Americans and furthermore how to assimilate tools and start your own journey. The second half of the book goes into the importance of animals’ and their role in our lives as spiritual protectors and healers. Once again, as in many Mari Silva books, there is a lot of history. This two book set is packed with information about Native American spiritual traditions. I especially enjoyed learning more about dream work. I loved all of the information on Spirit Animals, and how to find out about your personal Animal Guide. Good book, well written, easy to read.

Very informative and clear. Helped me confirm things I already felt and clarified areas I was unsure. i am excited to get to better know my spirit, power and totem animals and hear their guidance as I journey forward
