Box Strike Plate, Chrome

Used with 3 inch screws, this product can spread a lot of force from deadbolt across a larger area of frame. Once installed, door was tested with lots of force and lock connection to door gave instead of receiver. Showed no signs of damage at all. Excellent product in my estimation. Larger hole seems like a bad thing, but made it easier to install. Would definitely recommend to improve ability keep door from being able to be kicked open easily.

This reinforced strike plate offers a major security upgrade from the simple flat strike plate that comes with most consumer-grade deadbolts. However, the strike plate's bolt pocket is larger than some door frames can securely accommodate. Double check that both sides of your doorframe are securely attached to your house's frame WITH LONG SCREWS, not just nails or adhesive. Also, once this strike plate is installed, test it by locking your door and giving it a good yank/shove from both sides. Your door and door frame should not budge. Be safe and secure!

Love it! It is heavy duty metal. You will have to cut the mortise quite a bit to make it fit. But it’s very worth it. I used 3 inch screws to make sure the 4 holes fit into the stud completely! Use at least 3 inch screws especially for the top and bottom holes. I ordered 3 and hired handy man services by the hour on Amazon to do it for me.

Piece of crap. This part is the wrong size for most residential applications. Its poorly stamped sheetmetal and comes with 2 cheap fastners. If your goal is to harden a door don't buy this product.

If you're looking for a silver colored strike box that attaches to both the jamb and the stud behind it, this is what you need. The picture doesn't show it, but this utilizes 4 screws, with two going through the bottom of the box, directly into the stud. You may need to chisel and/or cut out a fair amount of material to make this fit deep enough into the jamb, but it's worth the trouble and definitely worth the price.Note that this will work with any deadbolt that extends out about an inch. This includes the majority of deadbolts, but if you have a very long dead bolt, it might not work for you.

The screws slip right through the holes they're meant to affix. The metal scratches easily. Solid design, poor execution.
