Cutie Stix Maya Toys Cut & Create Station Jewelry Making

My 8.5yo daughter wanted this toy for Christmas. It works well for what it is but there isn't really much art or creativity to it. The "stix" are already designed in predetermined shapes and colors, such as flowers and dog heads. You load the stix into the press and it simply cuts them into little "charms"; the only thing you can adjust at this stage is the thickness of the charm. Then you punch a hole through the charm and thread them in whatever order you choose onto the pink or purple stretchy thread. The threading is rather ingenious because the kit does come with a plastic straw-like object that you slide over the thread to help you load the charms, then just slide the charms right off and tie the thread to make a bracelet. Needless to say, she made 2-3 bracelets (she punched the holes front to back instead of side to side on the first one) and hasn't pulled the kit out again...but whether or not she continues to play with it remains to be seen!

My girls, ages 6 and 9 both love this kit. The instructions make it seem complicated, but it is actually quite simple to use once you figure it out, and even my 6 year old can do it with minimal help from me. The problem is that it does not include very many "stix" to cut up, and after they are used up there isn't really anything else you can do with the kit. And the few available refill packs can be pricey and hard to find. Still, it was better quality than I expect from this type of toy and did provide my kids with a couple of fun afternoons.

This is a really neat jewelry-making set. The stix are sort of like long erasers that you cut into smaller pieces to make necklaces, bracelets, nail designs, and even little animals. It was super easy for my 11-yr-old daughter to set up and do herself but I made some with her and, surprisingly, had lots of fun doing so. The quality of the toy is superb and the cutie stix are just adorable. Directions are illustrated as well, so even younger kids would be able to use this set with minimal to no assistance. The toy is also very safe, as all cutting mechanisms are inside and away from little fingers. They also sell refill sets that I’ve found for about $6 at Toys ‘R Us. All in all, a great gift for kids.

Got this as a xmas present for my 8-yo, and it has been so much fun for her! Her first time using it, we sat down together while she read and figured out the instructions (which can seem extensive, but after that first run through, it was a piece of cake for my 8-yo. It was also a good exercise in letting her take the time to figure things out for herself while I sat nearby in case things got overly complicated—they didn’t.). Anyways, a really nice craft set for her and she’s loving in. She’s loving it so much, in fact, that I’m about to order the refill sets.

Easy to use. Daughter and her friends love making bracelets. I suggest watching the (not so good) youtube video. However it did help a little. My daughter actually asked if she could make a new video so kids her age would be able to understand what to do. With that being said she does like the item and enjoys make bracelets for her friends.

I ordered this for my almost six year old daughter for Christmas. It is a little harder to figure out how to use than I expected, and the cuts don't always go through the beads on the first attempt. We made 2 necklaces though together right away and my daughter was excited to design her own necklace. Just a lot more hands on than I was hoping....

Fun idea but refills are no where to be found. I scoured every possible place with no luck. The last thing I wanted was for this to be only available for one time use. I returned it.

My 8-year-old figured it all out on her own with the directions. So easy. From what I can see, I would guess she can make at least 8 or 9 more bracelets with what’s included in this kit. I think it came with plenty of product for the price I paid. I’m tempted to buy several more to stash away for birthday gifts!
