I did clean it. Honest.
It kills all sorts of flying things, sometimes they explode with a loud crack.This frightens my dogs who then run around barking,trying to figure out what it was.This causes me to jump, and spill my tea!I do not like wasting tea like that.

Extended the life of our gnat zapper!
I left the system unplugged overnight to make sure the capacitors were discharged before opening the unit, which required unsnapping a protective wire screen and removing 4 screws from the electrode panel to access the tubes. The original tubes were cemented into the gnat zapper (probably to allow shipping) so the most difficult thing was getting the burned out original tubes removed, which required some gently prying apart of the silicone adhesive while avoiding damage to the recepticals, but once this was accomplished the new tubes were easy to install, as typical for fluorescent tubes. It has been helpful in controlling gnats that seem to breed in our potted plants.
