Seed Starting Mix From Scratch
I decided to mix my own seed starting blend using coco coir, perlite, and vermiculite instead of buying a pre-made bag, and it turned out great. The coco coir fluffed up nicely after hydrating and broke apart easily. It has a clean, earthy feel and makes a great base. Once I blended in perlite and vermiculite, the texture was exactly what I was going for. Light, airy, and easy to work with. The perlite adds drainage and keeps the mix from compacting, while the vermiculite helps hold just enough moisture so the trays do not dry out too quickly. When you grab a handful, it holds together slightly but falls apart easily. That is perfect for delicate seedlings that need airflow around their roots. I filled multiple seed trays with this mix and it distributes evenly without clumping. It feels balanced and professional grade, but made at home. If you like having control over your soil inputs and want something tailored for seed starting, this combination works really well.

Perfect if you're patient
This stuff is amazing. Have found NO chlorine odor or sand or mud. Just clean cellulose fiber. Be sure to use warm water when expanding and be patient. They are very compressed and take some time to absorb. Mine recommended about 4 qrts. H2O to 1 brick. Start with half the water and I used a meat fork to break up along the way adding water as needed to get the texture wanted. I over watered my first batch the 1st try but just let it set for a few days till it dry out some. Added to the soil for my cloth pots to hold moisture. Awesome!!!!!!

I love these
They expand a lot! Make sure you use a container that is big enough. You may be surprised how much soil you will end up with after they absorb all the water. I haven't seen any unwanted particles or trash in these bricks. You can get perlite, vermiculite, coco chunks, compost, etc. and make your own mix. I mix these with perlite and have had 100% germination rate with good seeds. It keeps a lot of water and can suffocate your plants if you don't use an amendment to aerate it. The moisture can also be a good environment for fungus gnats and can cause damping off disease. Bottom water after seeds sprout.

Worked great, and goes pretty far
Texture and quality seems great. I used it to make a seed starting mix, and it worked perfectly for my purposes, fluffing up well with the addition of water and some other ingredients. I love how lightweight it is, and how much quantity you get out of the compressed bricks. There is a strange, chemical smell to it that I don't enjoy, so I wonder about its purity, but I haven't compared it to other brands yet.

Lowest price coconut coir on Amazon - GREAT QUALITY PRODUCT - Repeat buyer!
It doubles in size after you add water. It is BETTER than potting soil and very nutrient dense for growing plants. This product HOLDS MOISTURE in the soil better and longer than conventional potting soil - so it is good for water conservation. I spent HOURS researching the best price and this is the best deal. I am a long time loyal customer and will buy it again and again. Coconut coir has everything you need to grow crops. I do not have a car and got fed up dragging heavy bags of potting soil home from the store in rolling carts. Because this is a dehydrated product it is lightweight. This is MUCH BETTER for the environment that potting soil - most potting soil is NOT from renewable green sources - such as peat moss which is dug up from the ground in a destructive non-environmental manner - peat moss takes about a century to create - it is from ancient peat bogs in the ground and dug up to sell as peat moss. Perlite in potting soil is heated at around 800 degrees and TERRIBLE carbon footprint. Coconut coir is the shell and hairy fibers on the shell which left over after fresh coconut is harvested and cracked open for processing as a food product. Buy purchasing Coconut coir we are eliminating WASTE by using the shell for a good purpose.

Great for indoor and outdoor use.
Very easy to use. Perfect for starting seedlings. Mix or use alone, depends on your plants. Smaller blocks are great for indoor use so you don't have to worry about rehydrating more than you need at the time. Stores nicely. I use this in my worm beds as well.

Cococoir Bricks do not expand as advertised and have grasslike seeds that are germinating
The coconut coir brick thet I ordered had a number of seeds that germinated from the wheat/rye/or grass family. I couldnt even pull these out from the seed trays since it would have disturbed the roots of my new seedlings. These in effect robbed the nutrients that would have gone to my new seedlings. Sadly my return window closed...Quality is truly pretty bad compared to it's competitors. Very fine fibers that don't expand as advertised and I am having to use twice the bricks to get the same results. It is also very dusty and 'Uncoir' like. I have been using Coco Bricks for the past 7 years and decided to with this brand since my original favourite jumped quite a bit in price.
