Really unique and versatile drum beater.
I like using the flat side for electronic drums, and the narrow side for regular bass drums. Very sturdy and can’t wait to really get to playing more with it.

Excellent felt beater
I purchased this when I got tired of my two headed plastic/felt beater racking me on my foot. It accomplished that task quickly, but has proven to me how good a felt only beater could be. Well weighted with a nice thump sound. I’m using this currently on my low volume set up, which makes the good feel and sound that much more impressive. I don’t know how long it will hold up, but I hope it holds up well, because I’m liking it!

Solid Felt Beater
About me: I have drummed for over 20 years (yikes!) and I have played with DW 5000 series kick pedals for the majority of that time. This beater looks and feels better-built than most of the felt beaters out there. It was a little heavier than I expected, but I lightened up/sped up the action by shortening the stroke (choking up on the handle, if you will). The beater has a neat design without being overly complicated. It's hard to say that this beater is better than the old one it replaced, but, for its apparent build quality, it seems reasonably priced.I have had great experience with all of the Vic Firth products I have tried over the years and expect no surprises from this beater.

Nice work, Vic
These are, at first sight, a bit odd, but after testing them they truly have two, maybe three unique sounds. The flat projects the lowest fundamental note of my 24" bass drum, and laid on edge is a more articulate tone, suitable for faster patterns. Both angles are balanced and appear to stay where I clamp them. The third sound may be a subtle difference when the Vic Firth logo is turned toward the head. I don't miss the stock plastic/felt beaters that are stock on the DW pedals I play, but I may put the memory lock form those beaters onto these new beaters. I will look into the wood and fleece models to complete my sound. Nice work, Vic.

I really like the sound of this batter
I really like the sound of this batter. Plenty of punch, and I can actually get a nice tone on the drum. I'm not sure about the durability, but I'm very happy with the product so far.(Gretsch 16" kick on a Catalina Club Street. The drum is open 1/2 inch. Aquarian Studio X clear batter, Evans Resonant Glass res head, not ported. Batter tuned to G1, resonant just a little flat. There is nothing in the drum or on the heads to muffle.)

nice stuff. great addition
i have not used it live as of yet. smaller venue perhaps. i use an 18" bass and this was a bit too muffled and didn't have a "light punch". so i put my old big square felt beater on and layed off it a bit. i will find a gig for this one and glad i have it. fits an iron cobra pedal just fine.

Not a revolutionary product, but worth a listen if you’re looking for something different.
The action of my pedal is a little different now and I think I prefer the sound I get with this, compared to the beater that came with my Tama Iron Cobra pedal. I have been using the flat surface, not the edge.

Buen sonido, buen feel
Hasta ahora me ha gustado el sonido y el feel de este baquetón. Falta ver su durabilidad, pero se ve bien hecho.

Not what is advertised
It's not that it would be a bad beater, but as far as decreasing volume goes - it is withou an exaggeration absolutely useless.
