You might really like this. I Do!
What you need to know about this hand axe depends on why you're buying it. Throwing axe: This is why I bought it. Sharp, durable edge. The wolf image is etched in (not just painted), so it won't come off. Of course, the riveted wooden handle and the decorative metal piece at the top of the handle WILL break off, but I expected that. Now it's a plain flat piece running all the way from the top to the bottom, so the head can't break off. I'm just starting out, and I got it to stick on my third try. Display piece: Again, cool wolf etching. The patina on the wood is lovely, and the decorative metal piece at the top of the handle is a nice touch. Camp axe: Not the best sheath design. You can't hammer tent stakes with the back end as with a standard camp axe. Sharp, durable edge. The handle will probably hold up well under this kind of use. You can buy a good camping axe for less money, but if this strikes your fancy, go for it.. Overall, no regrets whatsoever!

GREAT SHOWPIECE & FUNCTIONAL AXE!!!
This is a great little axe for the money. I haven't run it through an extensive torture test to see how much punishment it can handle, but I'm sure it will have its limitations when tested out in the field. Everything does. As long as you are using it for the jobs it's meant to handle, you'll be very satisfied. If you buy it just to show it off & to display it, then you will be even more satisfied with it. It feels good in the hand & the etching is beautiful. Expertly done & the edge was very sharp right out of the box. I was so happy with this purchase that I bought two of them. I'm probably going to buy one more in time.

This is an amazing hatchet!
To be honest, I was surprised by the high quality of this hatchet for under $30. The entire hatchet, head and handle, is a single piece of stainless steel about 1/4-inch thick. And the polished wooden handle gives it a round, comfortable feel when held. It has a nice weight and is easy to maneuver. The wolf head looks painted on but it is actually etched into the metal and feels good to the touch. And it is quite sharp so be careful taking it out of the sheath as you could easily cut yourself! I actually bought this hatchet for bushcrafting but after feeling it and examining it, I may not use it for that after all. It is such a high quality tool that I'm debating if I want to use it as a tool at all. It can probably be thrown well but I haven't tried that, again because I don't want to damage it. But it might be a good choice for killing zombies! :) I have only 2 suggestions for improvement for the manufacturer. (1) The sheath could be slightly larger (maybe 5%?) since removing the hatchet takes a bit of work (but not much). (2) The attached lanyard is little more than a shoestring. Paracord would be a better choice; an even better choice would be an adjustable stainless steel "bracelet" using metal similar to the hatchet itself. I plan on buying such a stainless steel bracelet to replace the included lanyard. Overall, it is a great hatchet at a great price!

Beautiful Hatchet; DEADLY DANGEROUS SHEATH!
The quality of the hatchet I received is completely consistent with previous glowing reviews: beautiful craftsmanship and obvious durability. The only issue I have - and it's critical - is with the sheath it came with. Initially, I found it a little difficult to remove and return it to the sheath, due to a tight fit, and I was disappointed to find no belt loop or belt attachment mechanism. The real issue with the sheath was discovered when I found out the hard way that what looks like grommet- reinforced stitching is actually JUST GROMMETS, with no stitching between them! The stitching does not go completely through both halves of the sheath, but apparently reinforces the hem on each half. I discovered this the hard way when, while attempting to re-insert the hatchet, the upper blade end popped through the gap and sliced my palm! So, yes, the blade does arrive well-sharpened. I CONSIDER THE SHEATH DESIGN TO BE VERY DANGEROUS and purchase considerations should eliminate the sheath and include plans for other, safe, sheathing! I have never seen any kind of heavily-stitched sheathing application like this that did not involve the stitching binding up the seams! Further, the sheath design has hatchet opening at the bottom, leaving just the grommets to hold it in place, as well as creating an awkward and unsafe holstering/unholstering situation. Top pass-through design is safer. I considered seriously down-rating this product, but it may be that the manufacturer of the sheath is different than the hatchet, so I want to spell it out in the text: this beautifully- made (and sharp) hatchet will be unsafe if used with the sheath that comes with it! I am divided between getting it reinforced with thru-stitched seams and adding a belt attachment, or trying to find a heavy-duty sheath/holster with a loop. Finally, it arrived sheathed: PLEASE BE CAREFUL UNSHEATHING IT, AS THE UPPER PART OF THE BLADE BLADE READILY POPS UP THROUGH THE SEAMS as you rotate the handle forward to remove the blade from the sheath. Hatchet: 5 stars; sheath: 0 stars Please see photo, noting pass-through of blade at bottom of photo.

Amazing Hatchet, but be CAREFUL!
The hatchet is gorgeous and very solid. It is also sharp as can be! I HIGHLY suggest you get a better sheath though. I sliced my hand a couple times now using the one it came with. The blade pokes out of it when being replaced. It is also very difficult to take in and out of this sheath. The hatchet is amazing, so I will give it the review it deserves. This review is not about the sheath, thus, five stars all around. But do be careful. I saw that someone else had gotten cut dealing with this sheath. 😵

Absolutely Stunning
The etching is fantastic, it looks so happy to see me. I haven't put it down since I got it in my hands. Great craftsmanship even though the wood handle doesn't feel too sturdy. Overall great. I've chipped the blade just a tad but I did also go TO TOWN on my boyfriend's juniper push and tear it down and lop up the whole thing. So if you're wondering if you can use it to hack the ever loving heck out of real wood with it the answer is yes. It's my very best friend

Excellent
This axe is absoloutelly beautiful. It is sturdy for cutting and a good overall axe, it is not meant for throwing, at least i dont think so, the spine is a little too thin for throwing and i think it may snap if thrown hard. I used it for cutting some wood and it performed flawlessly, but i didn't put it through a rogh testing. With that said, it is a functional axe with the beauty of a display only piece. When things get back to normal i will certainly get another one.

BEAUTIFUL CRAFTSMANSHIP EXTREMELY SHARP
I will say beautiful craftsmanship. I took it out and threw it a couple times at a log and held up very well so it's well built too. I will caution and I cannot stress it enough. It is EXTREMELY SHARP. It has taken it's blood sacrifice 6 stitches later. If I were to offer any criticism at all I would say the sheath NEEDS to be leather and not so tight a fit as that's actually how I sliced my finger open but I am to blame on that because I was kinda stupid with removing it. But other than that it's a 100% will buy another.
