Works great as first aid replacement
I know there is no blood on this to show it’s absorbency, but I’m pretty sure a lot of people will thank me for not showing that! 😅What I can say is that the compressed gauze is a welcome addition to my first aid kit. I have a kit in my car for any accidents that might happen. Just so happens that when I needed compressed gauze for a recent incident where I fell on jagged rocks and cut my hand pretty bad (made worse that I was about an hour from civilization), my first aid kit didn’t have this. I had standard rolled gauze which was definitely not as absorbent as this. I wish I had it a few weeks back!! I took one out to test how it worked and was at first disappointed because it looked like it broke when I bent it. I proceeded to unravel it anyway and it actually wasn’t “broken.” It just appears that way when you first bend it to get it unfurled. You can see in the next photo unraveled it is super long and testing it by wrapping on my hand it was about twice the volume of the rolled gauze that came standard in the expensive car first aid kit.I tested it by filling with water and ringing out (not pictured) and it held a massive amount of water, probably a full cup without dripping. I would recommend this gauze for anyone needing to be prepared for an unfortunate accident. I’m putting one in each of my car’s first aid kits and in my kits at home.

Yes, I Opened It
So, technically the front label mentions that once this product is opened sterility is not guaranteed. However, whenever I review products I like to be as open, honest and as thorough as possible so I felt it necessary to open one of these to get an overall picture or all picture of the product so I could judge it first hand. That being said, I appreciate how condensed and small of a package these come in. This makes it easy to pack away in an emergency kit or to even put in your purse, backpack or what have you. A lot of gauze is packed into this brick! Before I opened it I was actually expecting the gauze to expand when exposed to the air but it is actually a solid brick that stays put. In order to get the gauze out to use you have to pull at one of the loose threads wherever it may be sticking up and pull it out. As far as I can tell these don't have any specific lines that make it easy to find where to pull it out. It kind of just lifts up at the top of the brick and you keep pulling until you have the amount you need. As far as I can tell, these are great quality at an affordable price.

Brick of Gauze - NOT HEMOSTATIC
This is absolutely compressed - picture in your mind a solid brick of gauze. The description claims this is hemostatic - meaning it helps to stop bleeding or shorten the time period in which you bleed. This gauze is not actually hemostatic. EverReady does have a hemostatic gauze as part of its line of products, but this is not it.Since it is compressed, you get a lot of gauze in a small package. This makes it ideal for first aid kits, cars, travel, etc. As far as functionality, it worked well. This is being used after major gastroenterology surgery that resulted in a 10 inch open vertical wound on the abdomen. I need to pack the wound twice a day doing a "wet to dry" wound care plan. I used this for packing and it worked well. I liked that when I needed to travel, I was able to put this in my toiletry bag without taking up a ton of room. The weave is larger and loose - in other words you can see through the gauze like a chain link fence. If you are looking for a tight weave, this is not what you want.

Great Option for First Aid Kits
I'm a wheelchair user who does a lot of long-distance wheelchair events and I'm prone to the occasional fall. As I'm also prone to infection, acting quickly when this happens is important.I'm really impressed with this compressed gauze from Ever Ready. It arrived nicely packaged. The 10-pack of gauze came in a plastic bag, however, each gauze is also individually wrapped. These are sized as described - a deck of cards is a great comparison. While I haven't yet had a severe injury, I did have a fall resulting in bleeding and was able to use this to compress the bleeding appropriately and it was absorbent enough that I could get to a location and appropriate address my injury. The gauze are 4.5" wide by 4.1 yards when stretched. They are 6-ply and made of a white cotton. They are quite soft and definitely not abrasive. They are also noted as being sterile.I would definitely use these when camping and I will definitely use these when I'm out on the road for one of my trips. These would be great for runners or bicyclists as they are definitely small enough to fit in a backpack, duffel bag, or even a fanny pack. This is a great little discovery and I look forward to continuing to use them.

A Must Have For A First Aid Kit In Your Home And Car
Ever Ready First Aid Compressed Sterile Gauze is a must have for a first aid kit in your home and car. The order includes 10 air-tight packets of compressed sterile gauze. To open each individual packet, you simply need to tear at the notched area in the plastic. The compressed gauze packets are solid little bricks holding 6-ply white cotton gauze. The feel of the compressed packages remind me of the compressed sponges and wash cloths that you add water to in order to rehydrate. The vacuumed sealed packages are ideal as they take up minimal space, keeps the gauze waterproof and sterile from the environment until use, and makes sure you are prepared in case of an emergency. The gauze is very good at absorbing liquid thus I am betting it will do a similar job on blood. The product was Made in China. It was manufactured in November 2021 and has an expiration date of 5 years from the date it was manufactured. I believe it will last past the 5 year mark as long as it remains vacuumed sealed. Overall, I am really impressed with this product and feel safer knowing that I have them in case of an emergency.
