Artwork used is not illustrative of what can be achieved on the iPad.
Already somewhat out of date and incomplete, this book was a disappointment. It does not, for example, discuss use of the Apple Pencil or the use of Procreate, the most important design app for iPad. What is worst about the book, however is the absolutely awful artwork used as illustration, which is, for the most part simply dreadful. It provides little inspiration beyond encouraging one to feel that anyone could d bett

As a novice with an iPad - but a real interest in 'art' I was intrigued by the idea of putting these 2 things together. Past experience of trying to work through 'How to' computer manuals had not been exactly encouraging so I started to read this book half ready to be disappointed yet again....I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure to read and I have not yet found any of the technical developments a problem to follow. Diana Seidl writes as if she is actually talking to you - a REAL person no less!! she seems to want to write something which her 'pupil' can not only follow but enjoy doing! An entirely unexpected bonus is that I can now contemplate painting and drawing outside - anywhere in fact !- without having to cart around a bagful of equipment. As I am slightly disabled this has opened up a whole new range of possibilities both for working outside and in an armchair...even in bed!!! The iPad Art Rage programme is an art supply shop in portable covers and seems to offer an almost inexhaustible range ( watercolour, oil, pastel, pencil, different surfaces,......) ,and experiments can be kept, amended or assigned to oblivion with one touch. For me it is amazing! A younger person who's grown up with this technology would have a range of expectations , but for an older one like myself this has been a revelation ; I believe that both of us would find it a real companion. find it equally helpful.

For users of ArtRage only
It wasn't clear from the blurb that this book is almost entirely based on using the ArtRage app. As I use Procreate this was rather disappointing. I am also puzzled by many of the illustrations. The author seems to have used work by her women friends, some of whom cannot draw or paint for toffee. Many of the illustrations are pitifully poor. Perhaps the book was self-published? A bit of a letdown and a rather embarrassing product.

Great, wanted this for so long
This is the book that has been so long awaited by many like myself. Amateur and professional artists, technologically inept, who want to use their iPad to enhance and further their work. Ms Seidl shows that no matter your medium or artistic genre the iPad is an enabling tool. She gives us an easy to use lead in, detailed help with the ArtRage app and a review of other apps. I'm so glad I bought this book and look forward to using my iPad for more than social media.

I thought that the product was an actual iPad but it turned out to be a book quite disappointing

Very enjoyable and easy to use
As an amateur watercolour painter over the past forty or fifty years I found Ms Seidl's book very interesting and helpful when using the Art Rage app to create images on my iPad. The iPad screen is comparatively new medium for me and I am enjoying the experience.
