Not powerful enough for St Augustine
Not powerful enough to trim my St Augustine and “Johnson Grass” or Dallas Nut Grass. Took an hour and a half due to having to slow down or untangle the spool line. Usually takes 20 minutes with the gas trimmer but I’ll have to repair. Probably fine for Bermuda or Fescue trimming but nothing any heavier. Was hoping to go green but guess not yet

It has a hard time cutting bigger things. It works well on cutting the grass. I think I need something more powerful.

Mine Is Crap - Older Model but Same In Most Ways
Purchased a Ryobi string trimmer a couple of years ago; after 2 seasons of light use, it turned to crap. The head is loose and can't be tightened. String gets balled up and fuses together inside the spool, even with careful winding and not using the full amount of string that it is supposed to hold. Auto feed, not working. I see someone grew a brain and moved the safety button (that engages the trigger) to a better spot, mine was on the side of the handle and very tiring to use. Given what I know now, I would not purchase another Ryobi product without careful examination and studying reviews. Unfortunately I have extra batteries and that's the only thing that seems to be of any value and works like it should.

I have had difficulty getting a good battery to replace to original ones
MY opinion and experience is quite the opposite of a previous customer. I have used this Ryobi trimmer for 5 plus years with NO problems. I swapped batteries with a Ryobi drill until the two went south. I have had difficulty getting a good battery to replace to original ones. The tool has been flawless and I like it better than the higher voltage (torque) versions for my usage. Lightweight- light work. Does better manicuring and fine cutting. not a bush hog; nor does it like thick weeds. To each their own. I wish the batteries (of all manufacturers) were better. I am going to buy another one. It is less costly to buy the tool and the battery together.

Tool Batteries do not work on this unit
My Ryobi 18V lithium batteries for my tools will not work on this trimmer. Appears it is designed to hold a higher amp battery, the connections don't line up with my Batteries. I've tried multiple batteries. The batteries pictured are different with longer metal strips/connection areas vs my tool batteries with shorter contact points. I can get it to work if I don't lock in the battery, but taping the battery in that position doesn't make any sense. bummed as I didn't want to buy more/different batteries/chargers.
