Q: Is this authentic red glass or painted glass?

Painted. It willstart coming off in a couple of months. If i had to do it again i would buy clear feeders

Q: I can’t get the parts separated—the clear aqua bottom and the feeding pot ring. How do I get them apart?

I pushed down in the middle of the plastic part from the metal feeder. It popped off. So far I've been able to snap it back together once cleaned.

Q: Does the base unscrew for easy cleaning?

Yes it does. The base is all metal so put it in the shade so the metal stays cool.
