Q: just received this product black cushion stains color keeps on coming off on to bandage is now black

We put a piece of rubberized material, to keep the knee from sliding off and also to keep it clean, on the sling itself.

Q: Can it be used to keep the weight off the knee (torn meniscus pain)?

I would strongly recommend against it. I had meniscus surgery earlier this year, and cannot even imagine how much it would have hurt to use this device for that! All of your weight is on the shin, just below the knee - which is bent at a 90 deg angle. That's a big NOPE. We bought this because my son had a severe lower leg injury, so bending his knee was not a problem.

Q: can the knee sling be taken off and from leg to leg the lenth?

I am not 100% what you are asking, but it can be moved to either side of the walker to accommodate either knee and the length (or height) can be easily adjusted.
