Working on long-term storage in my pantry here in the rural areas of North Texas, in a small town. Chose for this area to do dry storage of goods and needed buckets that can last years with some type of seal for staples bought in stock found on sale. As you fill said bucket the size of 4 gallons manageable and can be placed easily on a pantry shelf. It holds large sacks of dry goods such as jasmine rice, pinto beans, wheat berries, and sugar. One could use a large Mylar or plastic storage bag as an additional layer if not using the staples for years. The wide, squarish mouth of the bucket makes it easy to empty the sacks. It has a handy handle to pack the buckets to a location, or if one needs to bug out during a hurricane or blizzard, it is easy to stack in the vehicle trunk or designated back area. The lid's sealing mechanism consists of flaps. The flaps have ridges that go in synch with the ridges near the top of the bucket. Make note: it is a tight fit between the lid flaps and the bucket, which is a positive. The light colored lid a plus for writing content of bucket and in the shadows of the pantry shelving easily seen. The pleasingly blue color is a good perk for pantry visits, making staple storage easy to find. The fact that it is not translucent ensures that anyone who peeks does not know what I have. In case of an emergency can be hidden in cellars and other places as long as the temperature within range of optimal preservation.

I love these pails for storing dog food. I really like a sturdiness of them. The lid seals on tightly is very easy to take on and off. I bought the blue color and they look nice in my pantry. Other’s have mentioned issues with a lid. Hi however, have not had any trouble whatsoever. They have a great storage capacity and you can’t beat the price for three pails with lids.

I purchased these to store dried beans. They are a great size, and they are easily stacked. They are very sturdy and a great value for the money. I like the pink color simply because it makes me happy. But the bucket is durable, and the seal seems good. But I think you will definitely need the mylar bags to make it airtight. I will buy these again. I love that they are food grade quality as well. The 4 gallon instead of 5 makes them easier to lift for me, since I am older.

I bought these in the blue and pink colors to use as emergency food kits for our go bags. My husband is a diabetic. He’s assigned the blue bins. I am sensitive to gluten and I got the precious pinks. We keep these next to our go bags for a quick grab-n-go-waste-no-time situation. By using the two different colors, there’s no chance of eating something by mistake. These bins are very sturdy and assure your food items are protected from mice and bugs. We keep these in our garage next to our cars. Highly recommended!

These are very low quality pails. The plastic is too rigid to enable the lids to seal properly and they catch on the handles easily and come open. Don't expect to use these for long-term storage. They don't come close to the utility of lock-and-lock containers (also with four ears) which seal effectively.

The snap on lids don't stay latched. I tried changing orientation and found that nothing stays secure. I even closely inspected all sides and they were latched in place, but when I moved the containers they popped loose. Certainly not air tight. One of 3 containers worked correctly.

These containers are ideal for households that frequently utilize a variety of ingredients. I personally use them to store flour, rice, beans, and sugar. Their design facilitates effortless sealing, which effectively maintains the freshness of the contents.
