Compositions from the 12th century
In her own words, she regards her music, lyrics, compositions, and writings as "A Feather on the Breath of God." The self description reveals the deep humility within herself and her extraordinary praise and worship of God. Has its own excellence. The little booklet with the cd deserves to be read and adds to your understanding of her works. Her own mystic art adorns the cover and is explained. 12th century mystical music and vocals.

Draws you into contemplation
This compilation of some of St. Hildegard's music draws the listener into deep contemplation of profound aspects of the Faith, including the priest's role at Holy Mass, the magnanimity of Our Lady, and the secret workings of the Holy Spirit. It can be listened to privately on an iPod as a devotional aid as one sits in front of the tabernacle praying or as a prayer per se when used with its translated words on the jacket insert.

Ethereal--Wonderful!
This is the most beautiful music! I love it! It's perfect for listening as you read or study, great for meditation and quiet time. The ethereal quality of the voices can't be overstated. Any of Hildegard's music is wonderful--this is my favorite album, though.

Healing Music put to work
A Feather on the Breath of God has always been my favorite Hildegard recording. So when I recently had abdominal surgery I took my small cd player and headphones and listened to her during the surgery. I bled very little, and was released from the hospital a day earlier than necessary. I know those soothing, healing tones that I meditate with, kept me at the best kind of healing level. This music is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The world needs this kind of music. I highly recommend it.

Wonderfully inspirational music.
Hildegard of Bingen was a nun in the 12th century. Today she is known more for her music, yet her compositions form only a small part of her story. She was also a polymath with a wide ranging knowledge of the world. Her entire theology is founded on the harmony of the created world and its relationship with God. What an amazing woman. Sit down and relax, let her music wash over you.

Sublime!
Beautiful, just beautiful.Ideal for unwinding after a stressful day when all has gone wrong and seriously wound you up. Put the CD on, kick off you shoes, put your feet up and lie back in a comfortable chair, close your eyes and unwind to the soothing sounds of Gothic Voices performing a masterful and sensitive rendition of Hildegard's ethereal and melodious music... and suddenly you'll find that life doesn't seem so bad after all. This is probably the best CD of Hildegard's music that is currently available.

Sublime recording.
More from the ancient written music of Hildegard Von Bingen. Iβm only just finding out more about this 12th cent. Abbess and you should read her autobiography to help you admire and enjoy her music. This is an excellent and illuminating recording of spiritual music which lifts the heart and spirit. It comes with a small booklet containing a brief history and the words in Latin and English to make the experience even better. That the music is so old yet so sublime is testimony to the holiness and experience of the abbess still surviving. Highly recommended.

and I wanted an up to date replacement - if you love the music of the Middle Ages
Bought because I had an old tape done while a student, and I wanted an up to date replacement - if you love the music of the Middle Ages, this is the stuff. Emma Kirkby and Gothic Voices, still the best rendition of Hildegard to my mind, although I preferred the old LP to the rather more clinical CD timbre.

Aurally superb, album cover disappointing.
Stunning recording. A great shame the front cover looks like a spin-off home produced picture. Should have spent more on the visual.
