Can I connect to this from my existing router (Vodafone) via ethernet to get wifi in a garden room?

Yes as that is exactly what I bought this for.my Vodafone main router is downstairs but our ceiling/ floors are concrete so signal is really weak and drops when using WiFi upstairs so we bought this and use it as a repeater/ booster, we have ethernet cable running all upstairs and to my master bedroom and it works great for WiFi and can use ethernet in this one to connect to sky, now TV, Xbox, playstation and smart TVs. I've tried numerous and this was definitely the best and easiest one.

Does this work with a SIM card? For a caravan

no you need an actual internet connection for it to work. Not only that. If you use sim card based routers. It will go off the signal that the local telephone mass produce so basically. If your phone signal is poor then the sim card router will be poor.

Will this work with Starlink?

Its a normal router, might work wit any ISP.

is this for virgin media??

Yes, this works with Virgin media. I have it installed on Hub 4, works flawlessly
