CRAFTSMAN 20V Edger Lawn Tool, Cordless Trencher, Bare Tool Only (CMCED400B)

It took a bit of work for the first pass. After this, the maintenance has been pretty much good as you would hope. Having a larger battery or 2 is a must for at least the first time. Then it will take less power to trim up. I went through 2 batteries the first time I used it, and I have a small yard.Since then I have used it for creating a border for my yard and it works well.I almost bought another brand since I have batteries for that brand too, but I will stick with this one as it really does what I need pretty well.

We love it. It makes the work easier it is light weight and easy to handle.

My driveway is maybe 3 car lengths long plus I have two cement patios and a small pad for the garbage cans. This does the job alright in those situations. However! The motor power is not exceptionally strong and takes some patience on difficult edges with a lot of roots and grass, and if the ground is moist it won’t run long. I also have 6ah batteries and they drain a lot so I imagine a small standard battery won’t do the job in one charge. On arrival the cable that runs down the middle was pulled out to where I had to cook it up to assemble the shaft. This was not easy and it made me concerned about the longevity of the wire in the shaft.But the battery frees you from cords and makes it easy to use and for my small space works good enough. If you are a lawn connoisseur this won’t satisfy you. If you have grilling and beer to drink and that’s more important than edging to perfection then this is for you. Hope that helps.Ps. The quality, once assembled, is excellent. It can take a bang here and there and probably ok if it gets splattered with water. I didn’t say float. But for sure if it starts sprinkling you can finish what you’re doing.

Unfortunately we can’t remove the hex nut to change the blade. Not changed the blade sincePurchase.

I bought this because I already have a trimmer I use and like. This works as it should but drains the battery very quickly. I have to use three batteries to edge my sidewalk and driveway. I would probably go with a gas powered one next time.

Just used this edger for the 1st time and loving it! I demand a well edged lawn and used a gas unit that had continuous issues with a bad float / carburetor. I had to shell out $100s in repairs numerous times. I was done with that gas machine. So I bought the Crafstman edger. I have many other craftsman tools and am a huge fan of the brand and quality. Charged up the batteries after delivery, and went to town on sidewalks, landscaping bricks and lawn edging. I was amazed how powerful it was and so easy to use. The second battery is awesome if you have a lot of edging like me! Never worry about not completing the job. The bonus is the tiny amount of space it takes up in my garage. Tucks away easily into a corner. Love this machine! Nice work craftsman!

this product came already used,without a battery and manual.i have a craftman minisaw and it is excellency,their products are very good but I am disappointed in this purchase.i will also contact Amazon and make a complaint
