it is really amazing..

I'm PhD student in Computer Science and Information Technology (Information Systems), I had more than six books in Virtual Teams but this book is totally different, it is really amazing... If you want to understand the real meaning of Virtual Teams..How it is working? How to manage? What are the main challenges it face? buy this book.. I strongly recommended this book for anyone who want to understand the virtual teams or do any research about it.

Great Training

I have my PMP and this book is being used for PDUs. It's relevant and I was able to brush up on global team management.

Good book.

This book is way better than I anticipated. I got this book for one of my classes in school and thought it'd be another text book but it is quite interesting and easy to read. I like

Help beyond traditional project management text books

In Leading Virtual Project Teams: Adapting Leadership Theories and Communications Techniques to 21st Century Organizations, Margaret R. Lee explores the challenges for contemporary project managers that cannot or should not rely on command & control or laissez-faire management styles anymore conducting their projects. While collocated teams in a single location nowadays are the exemption to the rule, you can't exclude team members residing elsewhere from your information loop. You have to share knowledge, project files, issues and risks. High tech tools aren't necessary at all. Internet connection, VOIP or IM tools with video will help a lot. Situational leadership, in the past applied to boss-subordinate settings have to be altered into team-oriented approaches. E-leadership in this book gets the meaning of evolving leadership, agility is used, not to describe approaches like Scrum or XP, but to paint the ever moving environment and necessary skills of a project manager. Different cultural settings, traditions of boldness and shyness, and means for motivating and communicating. Lee applies both traditional leadership theories and models and fresh insights to contemporary projects. Case studies will support your understanding of the ways to face your challenges. A practical help beyond traditional project management text books.
