George Clinton and Parliament / Funkadelic bring the party to the Montreux Jazz Festival in this 2004 appearance. At almost 2 1/2 hours long, this performance is both an audio and visual assault on the senses, as Clinton and company fuse together R&B, Funk, and Soul music. An overcrowded stage of singers, dancers and musicians give a high-energy performance, proving that George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic are as viable today as they were 30 years ago. The bonus segment features other portions of this 2004 appearance. George Clinton & Parliament / Funkadelic have received a number of honors over their career. They are 1997 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Inductees. They have earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the NAACP's Image Awards. And in 2002, Spin Magazine ranked them #6 on their 50 Greatest Bands of All Time list. Track Listing: 1. Bop Gun feat. Steve Boyd 2. Undisco Kidd (The Girl Is Bad) feat. Belita Woods 3. Flashlight / Get Low 4. Somethin' Stank feat. Sativa 5. Hard As Steel feat. Sativa 6. Yank My Doodle 7. Flashlight (reprise) 8. Not Just Knee Deep 9. Sentimental Journey feat. Belita Woods 10. Not Just Knee Deep (reprise) 11. Up For The Downstroke 12. Bounce 2 This feat. Kendra Foster 13. Never Gonna Tell It feat. Kim Manning 14. Atomic Dog 15. Whole Gotta Shakin'

Maggot Brain under the bonus tracks is awesome! The rest is ok for the vintage and new group.
Maggot Brain under the bonus tracks is awesome! The rest is ok for a mix of the vintage and new group. To experience the true original Parliament Funkadelic, check out "Parliament Funkadelic Live '76". The DVD is not very clear, but the music and show is the Bomb.

Anything by George Clinton …
Anything by George Clinton and/or P-Funk is great. I love George Clinton and P-Funk is a must have because their music is outrageous and very kool. When I listen pretty soon I’ll be joining in. So, buy this DVD and you too can vicariously join in to.

Great concert, great sound.
This may not appeal 100% to "old school P-Funk fans". Maybe the "raw" part is missing. But it is a very appealing concert, as most Montreux are. Great sound, P-Funk spirit is alive. Great performances, a great mixture of funk, rock, jazz, hip-hop, soul, you name it.George Clinton's presence gives a special experience and energy to the show.I miss Bootsy Collins on this one but you won't be dissapointed. The repertoire is very good and there's a good variety of people and styles. A superb violinist (Lili Haydn) gives a brilliant solo, as well as Bernie Worrell's keyboard solo.A memorable version of Maggot Brain with violinist Lili Haydn and Michael Hampton on guitar is also available.Over 2 hours with Funkadelic/Parliament stuff, with a good picture and great 5.1 sound. Highly recommendable. Now I will try to get the older concert from Mr. Clinton.

P-Funk Continues
As a funkateer-to-the-grave, I very much enjoyed watching one of the most innovative bands perform after their hey-day. They've still got it! George Clinton introduces his granddaughter to the stage and the funk spreads to another generation. The musicians are fantastic, although some of the original members are not performing in this show. You will enjoy this DVD.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic - Live at Montreux 2004
A very entertaining concert video exemplifying the later stages of the collection of characters known as Parliament Funkadelic - new members, but still amazing music and visual performances

Suzanne Vega Live...
This is a most enjoyable concert, beautifully recorded in both sound and vision. Suzannes voice is mesmerising. Her band provide a rock solid foundation, her bassist in particular is exceptional. The set list is just OK, a lot of my favourites are missing. Covers of "have you met miss jones" and "behind blue eyes" don't appeal to me at all. This lady has a huge amount of her own material to choose from. I far prefer the original version of the latter by The Who. Her little stories between songs are amusing. There's even a cheeky pop at Rod Stewart (love everything he ever did). Live Suzanne Vega is pretty rare on Dvd so I suppose I should be thankful for this but it's not perfect. Still I absolutely recommend.

Excellent (with one niggle)
Can't fault the performance by Suzanne at all - her voice is faultless as always. She sings as she always has done and hasn't gone the route of messing about with the songs so that they are no longer as they were. So many artists do that. When songs are this perfect you don't change a thing. There are a few other songs I would have liked in the set but all in all the choices are good ones. The camera work and the sound is excellent, but (and here comes the niggle) the lead guitar is too far back in the mix. There are occasional solo`s that are just not heard at all, most noticable in Luka. An injustice to a decent guitarist.Having said that, the sound is fabulously delicious - it is still a great dvd and worth every penny. Except for the above niggle, it would have got 5 stars.
