Supergirl
DC Comic continues to provide excellent reading material for races, ages and genders to read, I would recommend this book for others to read!

Huge improvement over the New52 Supergirl.
As opposed to the New52 take on Supergirl, this one is inspired by the TV show on CBS/CW. This Supergirl is light, optimistic, and trusting. She can be pretty arrogant at times, but otherwise is alot like the TV version that so clearly inspired her. So many details are borrowed or adapted from the TV show from the focus on National City or Cat Grant or the DEO or the Danvers'. This Supergirl has a life of sorts, and isn't just bouncing hectically from one situation to the other, never spending more than an issue or two in one place which is what the New52 version did.The art is very cartoon-y, looking more manga inspired than Kirby-inspired. Kara gets an outfit and artist that are less geared towards 14 year old boys. The editors clearly are trying to attract girls to this character.

Tries to be both the show and the comic, to mixed success
Supergirl has often had something of an identity crisis in comics. Often taking a backseat to her cousin, she is all the time given different backstories and even varying secret identities. This series seems to be an attempt, yet again, to soft reboot her stuff from the New 52, although I believe that is all still in continuity. In particular, this is drawing in many elements of the television series, such as her adoptive Danvers family and Cat Grant, alongside the ongoing comic material. The big problem here is that it doesn't quite pull of these elements. Kara feels considerably younger than she did prior in this continuity, which is in-and-of-itself a tad confusing, which clashes with the tv elements, since she is already an independent adult in that. The family stuff is okay, but only connects to her parents, when the show gave her a sister as the heart of her family connections. Cat's stuff feels like they're attempting to do a "well-intentioned mentor puts on a jerk façade" like the show as well, but the execution just isn't there to make it work. None of it comes across atrociously, but it is often weak or "standard" at best. To put it bluntly, this comic made a SPACE WEREWOLF less exciting than it should be.

Welcome to National City
Maybe I'm biased because I like the show Supergirl. I liked seeing National City and CatCo from the show make it into the comics. I didn't care for the New 52 Supergirl lineup. This volume was a great start and I look forward to reading volume 2.
