When you look through the scope you see two tiny squares, and I mean tiny! Like the size of your fingernail when you hold your arm all the way out. For my known gems I am able to tell single from double refraction, but some were very difficult to tell because of the small image.

This is a very good tool. I’m a Gemologist and I really like this must have tool.

Very interesting device! I got few small stones that were sold as tanzanite, but I didn't know if they really are. This dichroscope shows pleochroism of these stones very clearly. Easy to use - just put stone in front of the instrument, and look. The only thing that could be improved is time to ship the order. After it was shipped, it was delivered quickly, but it wasn't shipped for a week.

Sturdy and accurate. This item is a steal. Priced to sell and well made. Makes identifying gems that much easier.

There is no documentation on how to use this item at all. I returned it

This is the best thing I’ve bought so far in my new and steep learning curve into gemmology. I would urge everyone who has a need to correctly identify a stone to have one of these as a diagnostic tool. (Amongst other tools). I’ve already confidently sent fake “gemstones “ back to eBay sellers, confident I was right. Get the tools, learn how to use them, and hopefully be no ones fool.

Good product, but there is dust from inside the glass which cannot be cleaned.
