Q: how does size compare to clarks brand?

This shoe runs a little short in the toe box. Clarks generally are spot on with their sizes. Hope this helps.

Q: Are they comfortable without socks?

This is the only ECCO I hated. The elastic is very tight and the insert is very bumpy so probably would be more comfortable with a sock. But again, I have a small foot and the elastic is very tight which had been mentioned on the website.

Q: Do these shoes stretch out very much?

No, they don’t stretch out at all. Great shoes.
