Watercolor blender problems solved...
I haven't used it yet (taking a break from painting), but I will as soon as a new art piece strikes me. I had been having trouble mixing, blending colors just right for years. I would take my sweet, long time to be sure that the color or shade I wanted was just right. If I had not taken my sweet time and messed up I would have been so very unhappy. I know for sure this book will help relieve that stress from me as I continue to practice. Even if you are well taught in mixing and shading in watercolor, this is still a worthy guide just in case the process skipped your mind or skill.

Watercolor Paint Guide
The concept of this book is interesting. However, the color reproductions are not that good after I conducted my own experiments with the same Winsor Newton pigments and that is how I based my rating. The format showing 1 pigment mixed with several others is a useful guide, but putting it into practice on your own is necessary to really see the results.Moira Clinch's 2 watercolor swatch books are a bit more useful and differently formatted. Clinch's Walter Foster published book has better reproductions, Watercolor Mixing Directory. If you are a watercolorist seeking to learn more about pigment mixing this book and others like it are useful for mixing ideas. However, to learn more about pigments Michael Wilcox and Hilary Page's books on pigments are 2 of the best references to use as guides to learn about pigment properties.

One piece of advice
Winsor & Newton's are among the kinds of paint I buy, and I was thinking, when purchasing their guide to mixing colours, since one can always learn more, that it would have some useful and even novel suggestions about possible combinations and their effects. I should have known better than to entertain such foolish expectations. There was, indeed, ONE excellent piece of advice--start with the lighter colour and add the darker to it--but as for the rest, I simply found the suggested combinations harsh and lacking in subtlety. The book uses only two colours for all its combinations and shades or tints the two from light to dark. The suggested mixing ratios were at times downright misleading, especially in the darker and more pigmented shades.

Useful colour wheels
Useful, although a bit limited with the palette. However, I realise the guide is limited to one particular brand of paints and i use other brands.

An Indispensable Guide
For those in need of a visual guide to mixing colors, this is a terrific reference. The mixes presented are simple two-color combinations and run the entire spectrum. It can also help to minimize the number of colors in your basic palette... sometimes less really is more. Comprehensive, well organized and easy to use. A handy and highly recommended guide!

Extremely Useful Reference!
I frequently use this reference to choose and mix desired colors and shades. The book is small enough to be manageable while I paint and large enough to view the color wheels comfortably! Watercolour: A Visual Reference to Mixing Watercolour Paints (Winsor & Newton Colour Mixing Guides)

Irreplaceable Reference
Great book and irreplaceable reference if you are using Winsor Newton Professional watercolors. It saved me a ton of time on figuring out how to mix certain color combinations.

Color rendition horrible
The color renditions in this book are horrible. This was an expensive purchase. I expected so much more of Windsor & Newton. I'm sorry I spent the money. I am no further along in color selection than I was before I bought this book.

Acrylic Mixing Guide
I have just taken up acrylic painting as a hobby and thought this would be a great help. I does help but in my opinion it is a little bit to advanced for a complete novice like me. I hope that it will come in useful later on as I become more proficient in using Acrylics later on

This is an amazing book. Using 25 colours
This is an amazing book. Using 25 colours, it contains 50 pages of colour mixes, each containing 40 new shades, creating over 2000 colours. Every shade you can imagine, you can find, so no need to spend money buying a lot of paint.
