Picky cat approved
I don’t usually write reviews, but Weruva BFF wet cat food deserves one. I have extremely picky cats, and finding a food they’ll consistently eat has been a struggle for years. This is one of the very few wet foods that they get genuinely excited about. The bowls are clean every time, which honestly says everything. What really stands out to me is the quality of the food. You can actually see real shredded meat and gravy, not mystery mush. It smells fresh (as fresh as cat food can smell), looks appetizing, and doesn’t have that overly processed look that a lot of other brands do. I feel good knowing I’m feeding my cats something made with quality ingredients. I also appreciate the variety of flavors Weruva offers. It keeps my cats from getting bored and helps me rotate proteins without upsetting their routine. Every flavor we’ve tried so far has been a hit, which is rare in my household. Yes, it’s a little pricier than some grocery-store brands, but in my opinion it’s completely worth it. Less wasted food, happier cats, and peace of mind knowing they’re eating something nutritious makes the cost justified. If you have picky cats or you care about feeding them high-quality wet food, I highly recommend giving Weruva BFF a try. This has become a staple in our home and I don’t see myself switching anytime soon.

Lots of gravy!
My cat has a is a finicky eater. I have spent a fortune on different canned foods and I end up throwing so much of it away because it isn't cheap as we all know. Though she does love Fancy Feast, there simply isn't enough gravy for her tastes. She likes to eat those 3 oz portion right from the can because the gravy accumulates at the top. Then she will slurp the gravy off the top but won't touch the meat. I throw out about 3 cans a day minus the gravy. Weruva really understood the assignment because I have tried every brand that advertises heaping portions of gravy and this is the first brand that met the challenge. These are the pouches. I bought both pouches and 3 oz cans. The pouches have very heavier thick gravy like a bisque. The 3 oz cans have lots of gravy too but it is more of a broth. She loves both. She is also more interested in the actual meat and fish. The pouches have a large portion and I could here her gulping her food. I was surprised to see her eat the meat too! I have spent fortunes on food for one cat to find this brand. There are many flavors including duck, lamb and a variety of fish.

Absolutely Disgusting Slop, But My Cat LOOOOVVES It!
The Good: My cat LOVES these! The pouches are mostly easy to open, higher liquid content is much better for your cat's digestive and urine systems than dry food. He can't get enough of this disgusting stuff. The Bad: Smells absolutely awful and you have to wash your hands after every time you come into contact with it, it is a little costly for what you get (mostly gravy), cat has that disgusting smell on his breath for up to an hour after eating it, can't load into a timed dispenser, sometimes the punch doesn't tear open easily - resulting in more of it getting onto your hands as you rip the pouch open. Recommend opening over a paper towel because some of it will splash onto your counter from time to time opening it. I call this stuff "kitty crack" because my cat CLAMORS for it! Will not touch his Hills dry food until he has eaten all of his Weruva OMG-Gravy kitty crack. Forgets his "manners" every time and wants to jump up on the counter to help me put it into his bowl. I have no doubt he would eat a 5-gallon bucket of this slop in one sitting if he could! I feed him approx. 1/3 of a pouch at each of his two meals per day along with his Hills Science Diet dry indoor cat food and he is happy and active. I feed him each food separately because the gravy in this Weruva stuff will make his dry food soggy and he likes to take longer to eat the dry food nuggets. I store each opened unfinished pouch in a ziplock sandwich bag in the fridge until the next meal. If you can afford it. then I highly recommend this food as a stand alone, but even accompanied with dry food (recommend not mixing with dry), your cat will love it. The worse it smells, the more he likes it. Don't forget to buy ziplock bags if you have just one cat.

One of the Only Foods My UTI Prone Fussy Feline Will Scarf Down (Teracycling Bonus!)
You couldn’t tell it by looking at her (the roundness belies her picky nature), but my kiddo is the Gordon Ramsay of cat cuisine when it comes to wet food. There are only three varieties she’ll actually eat—or at least wolf down fast enough to impress an Olympic judge. Why fuss over wet food for a cat who clearly enjoys her groceries? Three words: Urinary Tract Infections. Years ago, she wasn’t getting enough water noshing on dry kibble even if it ended up being the “here’s your UTI solution and also our vacation fund” vet prescribed kind. While pet fountains helped, but she still wasn't drinking enough, enter Weruva BFF gravy to help—one happy, slurpy pouch at a time. Trust me we tried the vet stuff too, she ran away from one bowl, can't remember which brand that was. Price per ounce it will be much larger than regular store brand, but on par with most other premium brands. I once had a vet tell me I could either pay a lot at one time, and buy cheap food, or buy decent food and pay overtime. And while I do know I have cats with health issues, they are OLD cats with health issues, that just require changes in diet. I am no different. I found Weruva years ago when my other cat developed more allergies to chicken, do you all know how many foods have chicken in them, about 80% or so (yes poulty-by-products can be chicken, it can be turkey, it can be duck, whatever is available that day to throw in the batch). Anyway, so while the BFF Sweet Cheeks is not actually geared for health sensitivities my UTI-prone kiddo loves this one so much she thinks scarfs it up, and in the process gets some much-needed hydration. Five years in, she’s still gleefully scarfing every pouch. In all this time of being on the evil vet dry food and these Pouches she's gone from having multiple UTI's a year to haven't had one in probably two. I can tell by the gifts to me in the boxes of deposit, she's doing pretty okay, with only occasional issues of distress. Some folks might not consider the value stellar—this food doesn’t come with processed, uniform chunks as seen in the big brands. Instead, you get real pieces of tuna and salmon, pureed in gravy for a texture that’s halfway between “cat fancy” and “culinary art project.” Kinda reminds me of puree apple sauce, if the apples were cooked fish and gravy. I don’t like fish (they’re best admired from afar, swimming in the ocean or fish tank), yet the smell doesn’t send me running, nor does it inspire legendary aroma in the litter box. Which leads me to understand that the fish in the pouches were fresh when cooked and sealed. Thus, making it still fresh, or as fresh as it can be when it arrives. I have never received an order from Amazon that was expired or was within 6 months of expiration. Pro tip: About once in a while I get batches where for some unknown reason the forces of the universe cause the pouch’s fish oil to separate, making things look more “oceanic science experiment” than dinner. Simply give the pouch a quick massage before opening to remix and break up any pieces of fish that may be too big for little cat mouth size pieces for extra convenience. Bonus points for Weruva’s commitment to Teracycling—clean and dry those pouches before mailing unless you want to meet the bravest soul in the USPS (just kidding, postal inspectors steer clear of fishy mail). Rinse, dry overnight, and fill a ziplock; when the Teracycle mailer arrives, you’ll be sending off guilt-free packaging.

Easy to serve and my cats love it.
My cats love Weruva wet foods and these packets make it easy to serve but difficult to store if you do not need to use the entire thing in one go.

Worth trying, but my cats did not like it
We purchased this for our cat with chronic kidney disease (CKD), but unfortunately, he did not eat it. Our other cat, who does not have CKD, was also uninterested. The texture was good and a bit soupy, which I think a lot of cats enjoy. On top of this, I do think you get a good amount of food for the price. That said, my cats are not normally picky, and they did not enjoy it. I would say it is worth trying though.

Updated review, 1 year later— I have finally found THE ONE.
UPDATED REVIEW (9/6/20) It has been nearly a year and my cat still loves these Weruva Oh My Gravy products. Over time I have oscillated back and forth between the cans and the pouches, for various reasons. I have noticed that the pouches definitely contain more gravy and smaller-sized chucks of meat than the same exact product but in a can. Overall, it doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference; she will eat it either way. There are definitely a few flavors that she won’t touch (and 2-3 that she goes bat-shit-crazy for) but there is such a great variety of flavors to choose from that I am still able to switch it up and keep her satisfied day after day. Also, If you give your cat any supplements (either liquid or powder) the large amount of gravy and smaller-sized chunks of meat allow for easy mixing/hiding/dissolving. Win-win! ORIGINAL REVIEW (10/7/19) *fingers crossed* I might have finally found my cats wet food!! You guys do not even know the journey that I have been on since transitioning from dry to wet food. LET ME TELL YOU it has not been easy. First we eliminated any products that weren’t grain or carrageenan free and some other things I didn’t want my cat eating. (Yes I’m one of t h o s e cat moms.) Then was the oh so miserable search for what texture of food she likes. She doesn’t do pate which right away eliminated the majority of wet food options. But then there is like stew and chunks and shredded and a billion other options. One thing I discovered pretty quickly is that SHE LOVES GRAVY. To the annoying point where she will just lick up all of the gravy from food and leave just strands or chunks of meat sitting there. It’s like having a child who will only eat the marshmallows from Lucy Charms. Soooo annoying!! I was legit starting to worry about my cats nutritional profile. Another issue we were having was that after a few days or weeks of eating the same brand of wet food she would just become bored of it a just stop eating it? At first I thought it was a lack of flavor options or variety but I soon learned that was not the issue. I have tried everything from Tiki Cat to Taste of the Wild to Merrick to Purina and back again. I EVEN TRIED RAW FOOD. I’m not kidding I was desperate. Nothing stuck. You know when they tell you to transition your cat slowly to a new food? My method for a while was just to stun the heck out of her with different brands and flavors just to get her to eat her food. In walks Weruva’s BFF Oh My Gravy. She loves this stuff. She laps it up in minutes and meows for more. It’s a consistency in which she actually eats the meat with the gravy!!! She enjoys the variety and I’m learning which flavors she prefers. I also surprisingly love the pouches. I was a bit hesitant at first but now I prefer them so much more than the cans! I also love that I can add water to the food when she’s a little dehydrated and it actually mixes with and increases the amount of gravy in her food vs it doing that thing where there is just water pooling around the gravy and/or watering it down to the point where my cats just lifts her nose at it. Another thing I surprisingly love are the 3oz portions. During this search I noticed she didn’t enjoy eating cold food that was stored in the fridge (when I bought 5.5oz cans and fed her half) nor did she like it when I heated it up for a few seconds in the microwave. (She also couldn’t finish a full 5oz serving in one sitting so it was being thrown out and wasted.) Talk about a picky cat. Now I pay a little bit more for the smaller 3oz portions but I get a cat that actually eats her food up vs wasting it. I think it saves me more in the long run. I am praying this one sticks and she doesn’t get “bored” after a few more weeks of the same food. Only time will tell. But so far I’m impressed!!
