If you have a large breed puppy. This is the food for it It is so important to feed large breed puppy food to large breeds. You have to get the calcium phosphorus ratio correct or you could end up having problems in the future. It's expensive but you will never be given that opportunity again to build Your puppy's body. Look at the ingredients.

My 10 month pup came as a rescue under weight. My vet recommended I feed Orijen large puppy food and Dakota loves it! He has gained weight and is one happy pup. This food is approved as a balance diet containing all meat products along with veggies, vitamins and no fillers.

Pricey but Orijen has a reputation for quality highly-digestible ingredients, strict regulations, and no recalls. Check the ingredients and nutrition against other quality kibbles; Orijen rates number one for this reason. I walked into two major pet supply retailers (yeap) looking for Orijen locally, neither carried it in store, and at BOTH the sales employees raved about Orijen and recommended other retailers to check for possible local stock -- without trying to sell me another kibble that their chain stocked - that says volumes. If price is an issue, it is an option to introduce Orijen in with another quality, less expensive kibble in a ratio that suits your budget. Of course, you can feed your pup Orijen as a small supplemental meal with the bulk of the diet coming from home prepared meals - which is the choice we adhere to. Notably, Orijen is the only kibble that we've purchased that doesn't require coaching a finicky pup into eating; now there's an empty bowl and no more discarding food. Just wish the price was lowered or the volume increased. Alas, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for, so we'll stick with it.

My Golden retriever puppy was almost one year old and everyone kept telling us she was too skinny. She is a very active dog (run at least one hour per day) and picky eater. We were feeding her the costco puppy food but she maintained a weight of 50-52 pounds; around her age the vet said she would be between 55-65 pounds. We bought this food because we read about how protein percentage makes a HUGE difference, 28% for the costco food vs 38% for Orijen. We fed our dog this food and in less than 3 weeks she was at 60 pounds. It was incredible how much difference the food made. She was still picky about the flavor, we had to mix some chicken broth for her to eat it but still!!! I highly recommend this food if you have an active dog. Because of the high price, we could not afford buying more puppy food and we switched to blue wilderness large breed puppy food at 35% protein. Again, you can also see the difference in quality between the two but this one was within our budget.
