JESSICA JONES VOL. 1: UNCAGED!
C**N
As good as Alias
Collects Jessica Jones (2016) # 1-6The book opens with Jessica in jail for reasons that will be explained by the end of the book. After she's released, we learn that she's not on good terms with Luke Cage because she's taken their daughter and put her... somewhere. There are two main plots here, both of which get (mostly) resolved in this volume. One involves a woman whose husband claims to be from another universe (see Avengers: Time Runs Out and Secret Wars ), and the other involves a woman who wants revenge on the Avengers for arresting her for something she hasn't done... yet (see Civil War II - Vol. 1-8 ( Magazine and Comic Book) ). You don't have to have read the events I mentioned, but perhaps you might want to read online summaries about them. The bad guys might have some good points.I think this new series is just as excellent as Jessica Jones: Alias Vol. 1 , which you don't have to read before reading this book, but then again, why not? Even though time has passed both in our world and in the Marvel Universe (er, multiverse, er whatever), mood-wise, the book feels like we're picking up right after Alias left off.

Back and awesome
This was a great read! If you've read alias, if you've only seen the Netflix show, or If you're just diving straight in, it's good stuff. This book dives in with Jessica in jail, it doesn't really matter why, just roll with it. The only info you need if your coming from Netflix is that Jessica Jones and Luke cage are married, and have a daughter. Great story that makes you angry at Jessica and cheer for her at the same time, lol. Getting the original team who did alias back together is an extra win, layout and art is amazing. Totally worth it, looking forward to more, thanks!

Whiskey Tales
Thank you for giving our badass antagonist the trademark, unapologetic attitude that makes these comic adventures so fun. Keep them coming!Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos, and David Mack all back on board; we're taken down another whiskey fueld adventure with Jessica Jones, Alias Investigation and her trademark leather jacket. This new volume of stories is solid fun for all fans old and new.The original Alias (2001-2004) aka Jessica Jones was groundbreaking when I was in college and I'm so happy for its return to form. I'm also a huge fan of the Netflix series starring the incredible Krysten Ritter, who helped mainstream this iconic character to cult classic.Lastly, I'm in love with artist David Mack and his gorgeous covers he has done for this series.

Jessica Jones rules
Big Jessica Jones fan so when Bendis comes back and does another run I am all over it. Art was great, solid story. If you missed out on the serial comic issues this is a good way to add them to your collection. This isn't a typical Marvel Superhero book though. Jessica Jones was, and is here, a drama. Dialogue is sparse in places without a bit wasted and there is very little hard action so be sure you know what to expect. Series is still ongoing as well.

They haven't missed a beat
This was a really enjoyable read from the original creative team. Having loved the original Alias run, as well as the Netflix series it inspired, it's great to see Bendis and Gaydos bringing Jessica back to her roots in the style of the MAX comics where she began. It's not quite as explicit (no f-bombs this time around), but it's still the sharp, hard-boiled JJ we love in a compelling story that builds off her history in the Marvel Universe. Highly recommended.

So so graphic novel
I watched the Netflix series and I was intrigued to no more about the character. I have to say I did not love the artist’s choices in drawing this graphic novel. This may have skewed my opinion of the story line. I thought it was ok but not engaging like the Wonder Woman volumes I just finished. Perhaps the story gets better since there are a lot of unexplained scenarios they have to explain but what I read was not enough to keep me reading on.

A proper return to Jones's own series
Bendis and Gaydos resurrect Jessica Jones in a way more consistent with Alias than with Pulse. It is rooted in the Marvel Now changes in the Marvel Universe but feels like the decade old comic it is reviving. It's twists and turns are interest but have real character consequences in. believable matter. Good.

I hold my hands up...
My first comic book experience of Jessica Jones did not disappoint. Grainy, gritty artwork put me in the mind of NYC in the French Connection, but also reminded me of the ''V' for Vendetta' palette by David Lloyd. I'm not up at all with the wider Marvel Universe developments which were referenced or sign-posted in the collection, but I never felt disadvantaged by this which to me was a fitting testament to Brian Bendis's writing.
