Great Safety Shield
Fits my Dremel 4000 perfectly. Well made. You can't use your "speed" accessories with this safety shield. It requires the use of the standard collet. This makes changing tool bits a bit clunky. If you are going to be working on something that requires a lot of bit changes your going to get tired of going through the steps of changing bits fast. This is a SAFETY device. I use it when I am rough cutting steel rod with safety glasses. It is fantastic for that role because the shield protects you from those rare times when your steel cutting wheel shatters at 20000 rpm, which can throw sharp pieces in all directions. This shield protects you very effectively from that; remember your eyes are not the only thing on your head that need protection. Naturally, the clear plastic becomes obscured when particles settle on it. That is why using this to make precision saw cuts where you have to see where you are cutting is difficult. When I do use high-speed SAWS for precision cutting, I put this shield aside and I use a FULL FACE Shield. I find that this is a good balance between practicality and safety. This shield does have its place and is one excellent safety accessory to have.Nick

Works like I expected!
I cut pipe and other items that provide showers of sparks or debris as I make the cut. The rotary guard keeps the sparks and debris away from me. It is simple to put on and off. I am very satisfied with my purchase!

only buy this if your into jump scares..
just got it today, put the bit on, made sure it had clearance and was tight.. went out side turned it on.. WAP.. thing self destructed. Don't know if the mandel is out of balance or what.. Still tight when I took it off, was way bent after, blade destroyed, and safety guard mangled plastic between twist on part and rest of it snapped off. Not a single thing usable. For demonstration of safety piece it would work very well, .. y'know if it didn't cause the issue in the first place. ;p

GyrosGuard Safety Shield--your eyes are worth it
The reason I choose this rating is because it is an exceptional product.I love the fact it it protects you from potential harm. Any tool that uses blades always has the chance for the blade to break when in use. With the Safety Shield it helps give you added protection from being hurt. I would also recommend using a Shield helment visor to protect your eyes from any "flying bits" that usually come flying out when doing drilling or cutting.I would recommend this product to anyone who uses a Dremel type Tool and wants to protect yourself from harm. I would also say the manufacture should make this part of the kit to show they are out thinking their competitor and are concerned for their customers safety rather than taking the traditional marketing approach of selling it as an afterthought.

Does its job very well. Just dont expect quick wheel changes.
Like some others have said, getting the cutting wheel on and off with this is kinda difficult. Not complicated, it just needs dexterity and patience. You almost cant change it with the shield on. If your blade is long lasting, then no big deal. If you are cutting sheet metal or anything really tough it can be a chore. Like I said though, it does its one job very well. I dont like safety when it interferes with what I am doing and this guard stays out of my way when cutting. That is the trade off for slow wheel changes. And it catches like 99% of the flying debris. I think its totally worth it.

Safety at a price
An unguarded circular saw blade is a visit to the ER waiting to happen so I opted to finally get a guard for my Dremel. I was expecting a device that snapped on to the nose piece of the tool, but this shield replaces the nose piece. Once installed, it is a tricky operation to insert the blade/mandrel and then tighten the collet. I found that I had to remove the shield, place the blade/mandrel in the shield, then re-attach the shield. Tightening the collet was a challenge because of the tight clearances once the assembly is in place. After a brief trial, I came to the conclusion that it would be difficult to make a precise cut with the guard in place because with a small blade there is insufficient clearance between the bottom of the guard and the workpiece to allow a clear sight-line to the cut line. I guess safety does come with a price.

Doubts not validated
I had doubts this would fit my craftsman. It fit perfectly. I bought a cut off wheel but had some doubts to its safety. This addition gives me a lot more peace of mind

Larger than the "Dremel" attachment
This is a great shield - it's very roomy - so, lot's of possibilities. Overall, the attachment is simple, strong and has a much larger area to shield larger wheels/saw blades, etc... Unlike the Dremel Brand guard it doesn't attach at an angle. That's not necessarily a bad thing, IMHO - it just makes it better for some jobs and not so effective at others.I don't see it as a replacement for the similar Dremel housing - it's a different animal - I bought both to keep more options open for rotating tool applications and have used both with excellent results. Gyros makes tough stuff - very durable and their saw blades hold an edge longer than most others I've used.

Essential for using the larger cutting wheel
Dremel makes a small shield for the smaller wheels, but this one will accommodate the bigger wheels commonly used to cut metal. It's good to have both types of wheel and both types of shield. This Gyros shield does an excellent job of keeping the protection complete around a spinning metal-cutting wheel, which is the type that puts the user most at risk of taking a metal particle in the eye. So it's cheap at the price. No, I don't know why it's named after a type of Greek fast food.

Looks super safe but not my go to.
I bought this and the simpler open 1/2 cover type. It was an add on price for about 6cad so I added it to my cart. There was allot of thought in this design and it appears well made.It certainly looks very safe almost like a bunch of corporate lawyers designed it but in the end I don’t use this very much for the things I normally do. I can see using this for certain jobs where I would want to minimize the risk of grindings or pieces of a broken cut off wheel flying about but the other unit is much easier to use for the other jobs.Perhaps if the kids wanted to learn how to use my dremel (or if they were spectators), this is the cover I would start them with.
