The rOtring 600 3‑in‑1 has quickly become my favourite pen. The all‑metal body feels solid and perfectly balanced in the hand, and the iconic knurled grip gives you that precise, controlled writing experience rOtring is known for. Switching between the black, red, and pencil functions is smooth and reliable, and the mechanism feels engineered rather than simply assembled. The writing quality is excellent — clean lines, no skipping, and the pencil option is incredibly handy for notes or sketches. It’s the kind of pen that makes you want to write more, simply because it feels that good to use. If you appreciate well‑made tools and want something that’s both practical and beautifully designed, this pen is absolutely worth it. A true everyday luxury.

I'd read quite a few reviews before deciding to buy the rOtring 600. It's a lot more expensive than the pens I usually buy, so price was a factor in my initial hesitation. The pen comes in simple, understated packaging. The small box also contains an instructional leaflet and a single (black) refill. It would be easy to miss the refill as it is taped to the underside of the sleeve holding the pen. The pen itself is an all metal body and looks to have been powder coated, or similar. There's a subtle, but useful, knurling around the barrel where you'd grip the pen while writing. It's extremely comfortable to hold and feels like it would survive whatever abuse you care to throw at it. Rotating the top of the pen releases one of three nibs...black ink, red ink and a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. The ink is smooth to write with and doesn't feel 'scratchy', which is especially noticeable to me as a lefty. The pencil is excellent too. To change refills, you pull the top of the pen, just above the pocket clip and the whole internal barrel can be removed. Each refill slides out of a tube and you simply slide the new one in. The pen takes standard D1 type refills. The pencil has one lead already fitted and two spares inside the tube. There are other things to be aware of with this pen. One is the weight. An all plastic pen will typically weigh around 8g. The rOtring 600 weighs 33g. It is heavy, so if this is an issue for you, it's probably not the best choice. Although there's a mechanical pencil built in, there's no eraser. I half hoped I'd be able to remove the cap to reveal a small eraser, as you can do with most mechanical pencils, but I guess the design didn't allow for that. If you are in the market for a decent quality 3 in 1 pen/pencil, you can't go wrong with this one. Provided you can justify the price.

Comparitors: Tikky 3-in-1: Far better quality design than the Tikky, which is plastic construction for students rather than professionals but both use same ink refills Online: A wannabe brand that mimics rOtring quality in appearance but not something I've used or bought. I know what I'm getting with rOtring: precision engineered engineering tools that survive professional use in proper working environments. Whether at workbench, , hot or cold, in the office, on construction site... the reliability is there when required. My brand of choice for over 35 years in civil engineering. Other brands to consider: Staedtler, and Faber-Castell. Both solid brands of almost similar quality, but rOtring is the Gold Standard. When choosing a brand, you're looking at the entire range of that brand for its ingenuity, interoperability between ranges, compatability with other brands' ranges and devices.

Great versatile pen to have in your pocket. I can only give it 4 stars as it’s almost impossible to find rotring black refills for the pen. I bought another brand of the same spec refill but that stretched the sleeve too wide and I was forced to buy a new 3in1 now this one has ran out of black ink and I can’t get genuine refills once again… It’s too expensive to keep buying them when it’s supposed to be refillable!

**UPDATE UPDATE** Rotring sent a replacement, so can't moan...replacement is going strong. **5 MONTH UPDATE** Rotation has stopped working, sticks when rotating inside the pen so becomes unusable ... contacted support, will update review if Rotring fix the issue. **ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW** Solid pen, grippy finger hold, smashing. Paint wears off with use and getting beat up in bags and pockets, but develops a nice patina so still looks nice.

Another great workhorse pen. Great weighty feel to it. The pencil isnt perfect in design but for what you are after in a 3 in 1 pen is perfectly solid. The grip knarling is great. Comes with red, black and pencil with a spare blue cartridge/stick.

A lovely quality write instrument BUT why on earth isn't an eraser included in the pen cap for it's pencil?!

Kalemin klasik Rotring 600'lere göre hafif kalın yapısı elimin ergonomisi açısından çok daha iyi oldu, herkezin el yapısına göre tecrübesi farklı olabilir. I wish Uni made a 3-in-1 version of the Kuru Toga, but the Rotring 600 3-in-1 is the next best thing. It has that very reassuring weight and heft like a Rotring pencil should, a slight rattle can be heard from the cartridges if you knock it about but nothing to worry about. The mechanism is held in place with a friction fit, which is a little bit of a worry long term. Already I've had to squeeze/ovalise the internal silver portion that keeps the mechanism in the body, to increase the friction and ensure it doesn't start pushing itself apart if you are particularly heavy with the pen. The two pen slots take standard D1 cartridge refills so you can swap the supplied cartridges (red and black were in the pen, and a blue cartridge was supplied in the box). The Rotring pen cartridges are good quality, much better than the green D1 cartridges I also bought.
