I could not have asked for more. Wonderfully written. A great story set in turbulent times Can’t wait to read the author’s others.

I write this review as a biased lover of Rafael Sabatini's brand of adventure story telling. This guy knew how to write heroes and villains and how to use history as a beautiful backdrop for romance and badass action. Feels a bit long winded compared to say, Captain Blood, but that was barely a blemish on this wonderful book since Sabatini is adept at keeping the reader engaged and rooting for his champion.

A marvelous book in a fine edition

Well written. Old school melodrama. Nice sketches of revolutionary France.
