Classic Maxwell. This book is meant to take time ...
Classic Maxwell. This book is meant to take time to apply to your life, but it's well worth it. One main point that John brings to light - that makes a ton of sense, even though we don't really think about it - is how most people stop learning the day their formal education ends. Then what? This book vividly answers this crucial question.Three "must read" books on my recommendation list come from John Maxwell. The other two are Thinking for a Change and Failing Forward. If you have to pick just one of the three to read, go with this book as it offers many of the key concepts (how we look at and respond to failure and the importance of purposeful thinking each day) covered in the other two.

Useful but Problematic
I found John Maxwell's The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth to be useful. It helped me modify my self-talk for improved life results. It helped me develop a system to improve my skill in putting first things first. It helped me see the need to add an accountability partner or group to my life. That said, I also find the book and chapter titles problematic. There are no laws of growth. There is no law of environment, pain, trade-off, etc. It offends me greatly that Maxwell appropriates "law" to bolster a set of assertions, all of which are commonly found in other self-help books, and some of which will be useful to readers who are ready to hear and act on them.Maxwell's pages mask an underlying theme that the winners are winners because they are winnes; and if you're not a winner, it's because you are not following his laws. Maxwell seems to view his readers as inadequate in some way. For him, it's not about grace or acceptance, it's about his laws; the underlying truth of which does not need to be explained or defensed because they are laws.Winners are winners because they are winners and what I say is true because it's law.

Good book, but very boring.
This was a good book, full of great insights, but I found it so incredibly boring to read. I always like to finish the books that I start, but I have to admit this one was rather hard, and it's not very long. I wasn't motivated at all while reading this, I felt like I was studying a textbook, "learning" how to grow as if I was going to need to pass a test on growth. But as I look back at my highlights, I find that it is pretty good info after all. Maybe it is because this is the second book in a row I read by this guy, I just couldn't take it anymore.

Incredible
This is one of those books you need to own and read at least once a year. Every time I read it, I learn something different in just about every chapter. It is life changing (providing you actually go through all the steps and exercises, and don't just read over it). If you're looking for a kick in the pants for some intense personal development, this is your book!!! I've even been buying these for my team leaders and some family members too, it's that good!

Forget all other self-help books, and read this!
I can honestly say this is the best self-improvement/growth book I have ever read. This books is helping me take action unlike any other. I cannot say much about its contents yet, as I have only completed first chapter and the author wants you to take it one chapter at a week pace, but I can assure you there is very little fluff in the book. It's packed full with to the point clear examples and sound reasoning to help you understand how you can become your best self and reach your potential. I cannot recommend enough!

Growth takes time
Again John Maxwell has hit the ball out of the park. So many good steps for personal growth. Even if someone is not a leader of a group, this is an excellent read. The one major point that stuck with me is personal growth is not an overnight thing, it takes consistency day upon day working a growth plan. We do not plant an acorn one day and expect a mighty oak the next, it takes years.Put just a few of these principles into your daily routine and you will automatically see growth.

I love John Maxwell and have been a follower of him ...
I have studied human relations, communication, leadership, personality types, and personal growth for thirty years and I have never marked up and highlighted a book as much as I have this one. This is a book that can change your life. I love John Maxwell and have been a follower of him for many years. Of all his material to date,I believe this is the best so far. You can't read this book fast because it is filled with so much wisdom and personal growth principles that you have to stop and chew on them. I wish I would have had this book when I first became a leader. This book is worth it's weight in gold if you are serious about personal growth...... BJ

One to read...and read again
I've only just finished this book but I already know I'm going to be reading it again. John Maxwell is one of my favourite teachers. The guidelines he provides on the laws surrounding personal growth are indeed invaluable - everything from being intentional about your personal growth to using it to make a meaningful contribution to the world. As with everything John does, this book is down to earth, practical and an excellent resource if you want more from yourself and from life.

developing your potential
Have read many of john Maxwells books the most noteable one being 21 laws of leadership, all of his books are easy to read and need to be put into practice to reap the full benifits from them.Have only just started into the first three laws and believe the long terms benefits will be ongoing and rewarding. This book would not be for those who are not willing to put something into it,as with all things we rarely get something for nothing,no quick fixes.
