What is the distance to and from the Y?

There isn't a set distance, it is made so you can peel the y apart all the way back to the 1/8 jack if you wish. It comes with the cables together pretty close to the end by the xlr plugs but can be adjusted to any length. I ak impressed with the quaof this cable for the cost, would reccomend.

do they work on Rokit 5 speakers?

They absolutely should. They allow you to connect a 1/8" stereo output, such as a cell phone or ipod, to a pair of balanced XLR jacks. Since the Rokit 5 speakers have balanced XLR inputs, these should work fine. I'm using several of them to go from the onboard 7.1 surround sound outputs of a computer to the balanced inputs on my powered monitors (JBL 306P).

Does the size indicated in the description (6' or 10') represent the total length when pulling the wires all the way apart? looking for max xlr split.

The 6' or 10' is from tip[ of the 1/8" connector to the tip of the barrel on the XLR connectors. I guess if you separate the XLR connectors (pulled apart the zip cord) all the way back to the 1/8" connector - you would have the double the length between the XLR connectors (12' or 20'). This isn't a typical use however - because one side is carrying the L-Left stereo signal and the other is carrying the R-Right stereo signal (if connecting the 1.8" to a stereo audio connector.
