Decent beach read on vacation, but sloppy writing and rushed execution on key plot points. One particularly toxic character got way too much attention with no comeuppance. Would pass

I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. We selected it for book club and tbh my expectations were minimal, we just wanted a juicy, fun chick lit book to read, and on that it delivered. However I really enjoyed some of the characters “hot-takes”/ problematic opinions! Even if I didn’t 100% agree with them (although mostly I did) it was refreshing to read some realistic characters who didn’t fit neatly into the cutie pie molds you would typically expect from these kinds of books. Also I was really invested in the characters stories and I want to know what happens next! Ms. Palmer, if you are reading this we need a sequel please!! I only subtracted one star because there were some minor editing/ factual errors that bugged me for no good reason, especially the one regarding the movie “Overboard.” Other than that, very enjoyable.

I cared about the characters in Reservations for Six by Lindsey Palmer. For me, that's a successful read! I took the the book on an overseas flight, and it entertained me across the Pond - which is no small matter. As a senior citizen and an avid reader, I like books that teach me about worlds I am unfamiliar with, and the world of these 30 somethings is a bit foreign to me! I have read books in this genre before, but Reservations for Six is a more serious look at lifestyle and emotional choices and their consequences. I would recommend it to readers of all ages.

I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down! Beginning with a jaw-dropping revelation at a birthday dinner, it follows the drama that unfolds as three couples, who are also close friends, navigate challenges in their marriages and the ripple effects they create.The characters are vivid and relatable, and it’s interesting to see how they react to the wild situations they find themselves in, and how their friendships are impacted by their divergent paths. As tensions escalate, they each have to figure out whether there’s a way to accept their partners as they are while also being true to themselves, or whether it’s just a bridge too far. There are some surprising but satisfying twists in the way things ultimately play out, and it left me with a lot to think about.The writing is beautiful and full of insight, with many moving passages as well as some truly hilarious ones. This is a fun and engaging read that will make you feel like you’re hanging out with your own friends — highly recommended!

I've loved all of Lindsey Palmer's novels, but this one was my favorite. I was invested in the characters right away, and the journey she takes you on with them is so multi-faceted. Throughout the book, I found myself feeling hopeful, angry, inspired, sad, smitten, incredulous, and so many other emotions. It made me think about my own life and the lives of my friends at my stage of life. Overall a highly engaging, well-written book that keeps you thinking long after you've put it down.

I got what I was looking for -- a fun light quick read -- but it was definitely a lot more of an emotional roller coaster than I expected! The characters are all so complex and real. It was interesting both hating their decisions and also rooting for all of them at the same time. The endings for all the couples were all a surprise as well, and I liked that it wasn't always a neat and tidy happy ending.

I originally started this as a fun beach read, but quickly realized there was a lot to learn from the characters and scenarios the author creates in this novel. Really enjoyed it and recommend as a spark for insightful conversations about long-term relationships, parenting, the way friendships evolve & change over time, and more.

This was a good story. Written from many perspectives makes the story fun and interesting to read!
