Update to the review below: I read about Brita's warranty information and contacted them through Amazon. They swiftly sent a new pitcher as it was under warranty (within 30 days of purchase)! Great customer service. I do like the size and filter but the pitcher is not very sturdy. I had never dropped it but I noticed it's already cracked after a few days of use. It has been on the kitchen counter and may have been banged but my old ones never got cracked like this.

Don't buy this product. I had a Britta water pitcher for many years and it was made of a very solid, thick plastic base. When I ordered this new one, I was very surprised at the thinness of the new base and when I looked at it closely, I discovered it was cracked. Amazon sent me another. That one wasn't initially cracked. That lasted about a week. Then I noticed water on the counter where it was sitting and then I spotted a hairline crack in almost exactly the same place as the first purchase. It was leaking. Since I have used the pitcher for at least a week, I'm not going to send it back, I'm not willing to see if a third one is the charm but just a warning, don't buy the six cup pitcher. I don't know if the larger ten cup pitcher is better but I don't want to take a chance.

These Brita Pitchers seem to work well. However, the plastic does not feel as durable (i.e. thick). One arrived cracked at the side near the base. Amazon exchanged. The new pitcher's replacement indicator did not work so Amazon rep told me to switch the working one from the cracked pitcher I was returning. The filter is not covered like my older/different Brita pitcher so you see the blue filter. Not an issue...maybe it reduces unnecessary plastic so I guess that is good. What I do like about this pitcher is the lid. It is a flip lid so you do not need to remove the whole lid when filling it up. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. The exchange process is a little bit of a hassle but not difficult. In regards to the Elite filters vs the basic filters....I cannot say I have noticed a difference, but I have not had an issue with the taste of the Elite filters or the functionality of them. I am rating this four stars because the pitchers are doing what I need them to do, but the two defects above impacted my initial experience (i.e. cracked pitcher & filter indicator not working.)

This Brita with the Elite filter, gives the smoothest, cleanest, most delicious water I have had in a long time. Our kitchen sink is broken underneath, so until we have the new sink put in, we use the sink in the bathroom. Which would be ok, but it just seems a tiny bit funky. It could be my imagination, but it bothered me so much, that I broke down and bought this Brita. The pitcher is strong, not flimsy, as it has been reported to be. It is attractive when left on the counter. It is easy to fill, you just open the top, and gently hold it open for a second, and it will stay open. The water filters fast! I love my water again! I keep the pitcher in the refrigerator for very cold, refreshing water. The only thing I would change would be to get the larger pitcher. I bought the 6 cup, which is fine. But, when we get a refrigerator with more room, I will buy a larger Brita pitcher. I am just happy to have such clean water. Even our dog seems to be drinking more water! All in all, this is a great pitcher, and I am happy with my purchase.

I've been using this since September and it has been working well for me. As a college kid, I use Brita in my everyday life for water and you can tell that this filter works. Thanks Brita!! Will continue to use you.

Functions as it is supposed to. But it arrived cracked and I had already thrown away the box. I ended up repairing it. Very easy to put the filter in the pitcher. The filter lasts six months which is a long time. It is made from a strong plastic material. The color is which and clean looking. Water tastes good.

Solid, dependable product. Purchased as a gift for my parents and is getting lots of use. I love knowing that the chlorine in their drinking water (they are on town water) is being greatly lessened by their Brita.

The Brita 6 Cup Elite Filter Pitcher is a solid option overall. The filtration is noticeably fast, which is convenient, though I do wonder if a slightly longer dwell time would be better for filtering. Water tastes clean and fresh, which is what matters most. The main downside is the build quality—it feels a bit flimsy, especially for the price. Still, it does its job well and is easy to use, just not as sturdy as I’d hoped.

The pitcher arrived damaged. It may be an Amazon delivery issue as the outer Amazon packaging did not have a fragile label. The plastic is probably not that sturdy if it can't survive delivery, so it could also be a quality issue on Brita's part.
