PLEASE, if you have the option, PLAY THE GAME! (or at least watch a plot summary first)While it's actually 'watchable' it will be hard to understand without prior experience with the series, and the way it's paced and rearranged can make some details actually more confusing, and others lose all their impact.If you want to know what happens, I'd recommend watching a good recap on youtube, and within 1 hour you'll have a MUCH better understanding than you'd get from watching this 5 hour series,This is another show where they try to take a 40+ hour game, and cram it down to 5 hours, while still showing all the 'cool' moments, (and changing some plot details)But that's not to say it's terrible or anything, I actually had fun watching, but I'd say this show only works as an (abridge) recap of the series, not even a good way to re-experince the game's story (because of the changes)The music is great, and so is the animation, (most of the time) and both dubs sounds great!Overall, when comparing the dozens of game adaptions I've seen, I'd say this is in the top 70%, while the show it's self probably only deserves a 5-6/10 overall.As for the release, It's pretty standard, (and by that I mean a tad disappointing) No real bonus features, just textless opening/closings, and promo videos, and two bluray discs in a cheap case, one of my discs came loose in shipping. (the slip cover is nice though)----*Tl;Dr**, it's a (slightly) above average anime adaptation, and yes, it's overpriced, but it you can look past it's flaws it could be a fun watch if you can find it on sale.Overall: 6.5/10
