Q: Can you machine wash these pants or do the need dry cleaning?

I washed them in the washing machine and air dried. Note, I ordered 2 pairs one came smelling really strong like fish and the other mild. I washed them both and they were fine. I need to call this out as it happens to a lot of faux leather. Not always but it does. The scent does come out.

Q: Can these pants be hemmed?

I believe they can. There is a hem at the bottom much like there is on a pair of jeans.

They're not thick, but they get really hot from the sun. Kind of like a black leather car seat in July.
