Outstanding coffee
I've been buying this for years now. It seems to nearly always be very freshly roasted, so it brews a delightful cup of coffee. Make it as robust as you like to your tastes. Never bitter, unless you brew it too strong. Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would say its not good, unless you have a VERY specific flavor and perhaps you love a dark roast so intense, it tastes BURNT. This is well balanced, so it may not be for everyone, but honestly I prefer it to the Blue Mountain Jamaican coffee for everyday drinking. And I DO mean everyday!

Dark Roast, Not a Medium Roast. Still Flavorful!
First of all, I happen to really like a light to medium roast Peruvian coffee. This is advertised as a medium roast but it isn't. It's a dark roast. That is why I took off a star.As a dark roast, it is very flavorful and smooth. I do add some cream and sugar, however, so I can't comment what the coffee is like straight up. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth it was. It didn't seem exceptionally fresh, however it wasn't stale either. Good enough. You can't beat the price. At $0.52/oz, you won't find many single origin, Peruvian organic whole bean coffee at this price. Packaging was "so-so", and I did transfer the bag to another container after opening the bag. Shipping packaging was ok, just not truly reusable. I will likely purchase this coffee again.

Not great coffee.
I've tried both these and the Discoveries Santa Marta Colombia beans. I'll start this by saying that while I'm not a professional per se, but I've lived in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Colombia, have visited many farms there, sampled many different types or coffee in foreign countries and have imported coffee beans to some degree from the aforementioned countries for several years... Both of the Discoveries coffees that I've tried pretty much sucked. The Peruvian beans flat out look bag, half of the beans are yellow/tan and discolored and generally just look of poor quality. The smell of both the Peruvian and Colombian is definitely subpar in my opinion. The taste is very lackluster. I drank all of the Colombian, but the Peruvian I may end up throwing in the garbage. Maybe I've been unlucky and just had bad and / or extremely old batches, but there's just no reason to use these beans when there are so many better options out there with some of them being priced better as well. I won't buy more Discoveries coffee. I'm not one to leave negative reviews on things ever, but IMO this stuff is straight up bottom of the barrel.

Meh.....
I've tried many organic coffees.... this was a disappointment. The beans were not evenly roasted, lots of chaff in bottom of bag, the flavor wasn't impressive.... my 3 stars is generous, trust and believe. There are better options. Many beand were broken or misshapen as well, it was just an unattractive bag of coffee overall.
